Re: days and nights confused?
I didnt do anything, i let her run her course and it worked, she figured it out on her own. I figure if she wanted to sleep there was a reason so i let her.

Re: days and nights confused?
We would make sure it was somewhat light in the room when they were napping during the day, and completely dark at night.
We were all business during the night wakings, didn't talk at all, just did the changing and the feeding, then right back to bed.
Personally I wouldn't let her nap for more than a three hour stretch during the day, but some would say never to wake a sleeping baby.
Also, I found a sound machine or any other kind of white noise really helps them sleep at night.

Re: days and nights confused?
When my DD had her days and nights mixed up, I would do my best at keeping her awake during the day.
Honestly we kept annoying her, touching her, so she wasn't in a deep sleep.
After a couple of days - she was back to sleeping more at night then during the day
my advice is do everything you can to keep DC awake

Re: days and nights confused?
My friends baby had the same confusion, the dr told her between 6-8 weeks they usually correct themselves.
The only thing I think she did was try to wake the baby every 3-4 hours during the day to eat, undress them change their diaper, etc, anything to wake them up for a bit.

Re: days and nights confused?
I made sure I fed her every 3 hours during the day to get her on a schedule. I would also wake her about 15 minutes before the feeding and tried to keep her awake for about 15 minutes after the feeding. I kept the tv and lights on during her day naps, but left it dark and quiet (except for white noise) at night.
It's very common for this to happen with babies...and I found she was much happier when she was on a schedule and had her days and nights straight.

Re: days and nights confused?
My dd was the same and we just tried to keep her up during the day. She got it right around 4-6 weeks. At 6 weeks she started sleeping 5 hours at night.

Re: days and nights confused?
I'm right there with you. Sometimes he'll sleep for five hours, sometimes three (at night). During the day it's basically the same thing.
The dr says that he'll get himself "unconfused" within the next few weeks, but that all babies are different and it can take a little longer.
Meanwhile (I wish).

Re: days and nights confused?
I'm sure you are tired of hearing this, but sleep when the baby does... if that is during the day, then put on a sleep mask and take a nap!
You can't change this for them, its just one of many troubles you have to wait out (or hire evening help for!)

Re: days and nights confused?
what I did was take my DD out during the day. Let her see the sunlight - and NEVER let her sleep more than three hours.
At night, I kept everything very dark and never turned on the light for anything. She adapted within a week.
