DD got her discharge papers from the hospital today.
Today my little girl got discharged by her neonatologist. She passed her 15 mth assessment with flying colors. She is 22lbs and 31.5 inches tall and is advanced for not just her adjusted 15mths but for her actual 17 mths so the doctor and the specialists agreed that she doesnt need to see them anymore. Many preemie babies dont catch up until after their 2nd or sometimes 3rd birthday especially those as premature as she was so its a big step.
I got to see many of the nurses who took care of us but nothing beats DD seeing the nurse who was in the delivery room that night and let us hold her and assured us she will be ok. DD who is apprehensive of strangers went to her without a fuss. As we were there it was a shift change and we got to peek at the other Nicu babies and so much came flooding back and I remember all too vividly our journey to this point. Ughh my heart breaks for the little ones--so tiny....
