DD got the flu letter @ school....

that she may have been exposed to a child with the flu. Crap

She just got the shot 1.5 weeks ago cause she hit the 6 month mark. She hasnt been her happy self yesterday or today.
She threw up tonite and had a 100.4 rectal temp and is just out of it.

What do I look for in a 6 mo old for having the flu since she cant tell me how she feels? I feel so bad for her.

I thought it was her teeth cause shes drooling and biting everything but she wouldnt vomit from that right?

What do you thinK? what should I be looking out for??

-thanks from a worried momma

Yes, I've heard of babies vomiting from teething.

Hopefully it's just that. I hope she feels better!

my DD always vomits when shes teething. the PED said its from increased saliva and mucus. she also always gets fever and gets very congested. its hard to tell when shes sick and when its teething, but generally when its teething the symptoms go away as soon as the tooth cuts and she tends to still eat fairly normally - when shes sick she seems more out of it (not just cranky, more cuddly tired too) and doesn't eat much at all.
theres def a chance its not the flu - could be teething or just a regular cold. hoping it isnt Chat Icon

I have a 6 mo old, so I totally understand how nervous you are Chat Icon

A low grade fever and throwing up (not continuously) can def be from teething. She could have choked on all her drool. My son, in the middle of the night when he wakes up (which he has been doing for the past 2 weeks Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon used to be an amazing sleeper) starts to coughm but I can tell that hes coughing from all the spit build up.

Just keep on monitoring, and trust your mommy instincts Chat Icon

Hope all of our babies (both young and old) stay healthyChat Icon

Re: DD got the flu letter @ school....

Thx everyone. She had a low grade fever last night and slept or would have if I didn't keep checking on her. I was a wreck sleeping. But she was better. There's something definetly bothering her so I will probably be taking her to the md tomorrow.

If she had the flu, it would be bad. You would know it was the flu. She would have a really high fever - 103 or 104, not 100.4. Also, the flu lasts a long time - last time I had it, I was very sick for about a week, and then weak and tired for 2 or 3 weeks longer.

I'm sorry your DD isn't feeling well, especially at such a young age. Keep an eye on her and give her extra hugs and cuddles for now.

Well it's the flu .. Fever spiked and when I went they tested her for the flu even though she just got the shot. She was positive with bronchitis as well. Poor kid nowhere had the tamaflu to get her until today. This season is no joke..

I hope everyone's kids are ok. Stay healthy...

I feel your pain. My 7 month old has the flu also and it sucks!! They wouldn't give her tamiflu though because they said she was too small so we are just riding it out. I hope your baby feels better!!

Re: DD got the flu letter @ school....

My dd has the flu too although dr. Didn't do test. 103 temp for 2 days and now has a productive cough. Watching her closely. Dr. Said cough will last 7 to 10 days. Very sad for her. Hope your dd feels better soon.
