DDI Starting Early Program
Has anyone had any experience with the Sarting Early Program at DDI in Huntington? DS is PDD/NOS and his teachers thought the YAP program in Ronkonkoma/Medford was too restrictive for him.
Now I met a woman whose son went to Starting Early in Huntington who is PDD and raves about it. Not sure if anyone elses child went there.

Re: DDI Starting Early Program
my DS started in the huntington DDI. I hated that school. I felt the teachers weren't caring and didn't even know who my son was. The kids in my son's class were severely autistic. My DS has PDD. they didn't talk or play. When he was evaluated that spring, a friend of ours taught in the Ronkonkoma DDI. I LOVED that school!!! He learned soooo much there. The staff was phenomenal!!!! I can't say enough about the attention and care they gave to my son!!! When he graduated, I was hysterical!!! I didn't want him to leave there! If it wasn't for them I don't think he would have been ready for district. Oh and he got bussed to and from!!! I still remember the bus driver and aides names. They were great too!!! I hope this helped!!

Re: DDI Starting Early Program
We have friends whose son goes there and they are very happy. He has PDDNOS (I believe). They do a lot of fundraising for them.

Re: DDI Starting Early Program
I will definitely check it out along with Ronkonkoma (we're on the waiting list). My brother-in-law works in the other part of the building in Huntington so it would be convenient if he was there. But I think after touring we will know if it's the right fit for us.
Thanks again ladies....your feedback is very helpful.
