Deadly crash on Northern State Pkwy in Dix Hills
Just heard on News. 2 dead. Heard one was a 17 year old in a BMW.

OMG DH just got home and he said there was a big detour!! Thank God he is OK... I worry about him so much driving on the roads so late at night

(04/26/07) DIX HILLS - Two people were killed in a car crash on the Northern State Parkway in Dix Hills Thursday night.
Police said a speeding BMW ran off the road on the eastbound side, between Wolf Hill Road and Deer Park Avenue, exits 41 and 42. According to authorities, the vehicle crashed shortly before 9 p.m., tearing apart after hitting several trees in the median. Police said the gas tank was found nearby, but the hood of the car landed on the parkway's westbound lanes.
Police have not yet released the names of the victims, but said that one of them was 17 years old.

Yes. DH passed it last night. When he saw the light-colored car and papers everywhere, he panicked and thought it was his sister...in her silver Infiniti; she's a teacher and paper is always everywhere in her car. Thankfully, she called the house and said..."What? I'm fine!"

I drove passed it last night on my way home from my school's science fair. I literally was shaking the whole way home afterward... I have NEVER seen such a thing before. to the victims.

This is becoming too common
Way too common, we saw an accident on the way home from Mohegan Sun last week, you wouldn't even recognize it was a car that had hit the pole w/o the skid marks. It was truly unrecognizable!!!

It's so true. And that parkway is very curvy so I dont know how people travel such high speeds on it. And add rain to that..........

Two teenagers were killed on the Northern State Parkway in Dix Hills Thursday around 8:30 p.m. in a horrific traffic accident that left emergency responders searching a wide area because the force of the crash ejected the two from the car, officials said.
Killed were driver Giacomo Alfieri, 17, of Whaleneck Drive in Merrick and passenger Michael Moniz, 17, of Grand Avenue in Bellmore.
The two were driving eastbound in a BMW at a high rate of speed when Alfieri lost control, veered into the center median, crashing into a deep culvert and hitting a tree, according to a New York State Police news release. The accident happened east of Exit 42, Deer Park Avenue.
"They got ejected out of the car," Dix Hills Fire Chief Larry Feld said
"We got called for an extrication, but obviously there was nothing we could do when we got here," he said.
School material was found in the wreckage. "I've been doing this 23 1/2 years, and this has to be in the top two of the worst accidents I've seen," Feld said.
State Police were investigating the cause of the accident.
