Deciding to have another
This is long. Sorry! I have 3 boys, one of whom has mild cp. To sum up his prognosis to those unfamiliar with mild cp - the long term prognosis is very, very good. He won't be an athlete but he will walk functionally and while he may have learning disabilities potentially, he does not have any cognitive or intellectual impairment. The short term however, is tough. Tons of therapy and doctor appointments. He is delayed but will catch up at his own pace, on his own timeline.
He had a great couple of weeks where I really thought he was going to be totally fine and caught up soon. Starters walking, talking. I signed him up for a 2 yo program in the fall optimistically. And my husband and I started talking about trying once more. Yes, for a girl hopefully, but I love boys and wouldn't slit my wrists if I got another one :) I just really want to try once more. I also want to end on a "happy note" if that makes sense. Not with preemies, NICU, cp, etc. not to say that my son isn't a complete joy. It's just the experience has been tough and sad occasionally. I'm sure you have all experienced that paradox.
Anyway, as is common, his rapid progress has stymied a bit and I am back full swing in the CP bs for now :( one step forward, two steps back. but I had gotten so excited to ttc. I had an appt with an re set up and everything. But now I feel guilty. Like maybe he needs me for another year. But then he may need me years later still. And I am getting older. I know one day he will be fine - as fine as he will ever be. And then it may be too late for me to have another :( I am 35 now.
What do you think? How did you decide to go for another? Did you feel guilty?

Deciding to have another
My friend has a son that has CP and sounds a lot like yours. He has been in a 2 YO program since sept and has thrived. She was also able to have many of his therapists go to the school.
If you really want another I say go for it. She had the same concerns but knew she wanted more.

I am with you girl & understand how you feel. My personal thought is to wait until he is walking 100% because otherwise you will have a hard time helping him & holding baby.
Even though my son is walking now, I feel like I am still always picking him up off floor/ or giving him a hand.
