decision on how to proceeed with my next IVF- frist with DR.T
So Dr. T gave me the green light to start IVF- all tests were done and a plan is in place.
Choices,
go with a fresh cycle, knowing I don't make many eggs (3 the most in the past on high stims) and add Intralipid infusion and prednisone- cycle will be covered but it will be my last- this is the go for it choice. This choice means it will happen quicker but may not work. Dr. T would have me on less drugs so the eggs I do have a chance of being healthier.
OR
stockpile as Dr. T calls it- do a few retrievals- to gather a bunch of eggs 2-3 cycles so I would get 6-8 possible then send them to get biopsied. CGH I think the test is called??? then do a frozen transfer with intralipid infusion. have enough insurance to cover 2 retrievals- possible 3rd and frozen transfer will be OOP as well as the CGH. will take a longer time, but more thorough, more $$.
I'm so torn as to what to do. I know I have been blessed with insurance- We were also cursed with getting hit hard by Sandy and are still paying dearly for the effects.
Any advice or opinion? curious to hear if any others had to do this. TIA!!!

I think since you have enough coverage for the multiple retrievals I would go for that. FET cycles are fairly inexpensive compared to fresh, I'm not sure how much the testing is but you would have some time to save while going through the retrievals. I think even if it did not work you would feel better too.

I'd do the 2nd option.

We chose the banking option when doing our IVF but not with the PGD option because my embryos were considered so fragile that he didn't want to risk damaging the few we would get. So we did it but only one embryo survived and I chose to transfer instead of banking obviously. So he can totally change protocol if things don't work out the way you want, don't worry. I would aim for the second option! Good luck!

2nd option is basically what worked for me. I like it because you end up with more information, like if you're transferring viable embryos. If not, then at least you have closure. If you have good embryos, then it helps you figure out treatment.
ETA: Grow to day 5! That's really important for biopsy.

Same here, my embies were never worthy for PGD but if they made it i would have done this.

I would go with the second option.
We are going with this option. I too am lucky enough to have insurance. It still costs a hell of lot with co pays and OOP for the PGD. Especially living pay check to pay check. My RE went ahead and did less meds for better quality eggs. I'm older with DOR. I've already done two cycles of IVF, banking since October of last year with 8 embies frozen. I'm in the middle of my third cycle. We are banking for PGD.
I looked at it this way, I'm 40 if this doesn't happen for me this year then it wouldn't happen for me. I try to be as realistic as I can. I'm not getting any younger and neither are my eggs. So if I'm going to do it may as well give it the possible shot I possibly could. I don't want to live with the feeling that I didn't do the best I could. If I"m going to be childless, well hey I did the best I could under the circumstances.
With all that said, only you and your DH can decide what's best for you. FM me if you want to talk .

My embryos were never able to be frozen. They never made it for some reason. I did 5 FRESH IVF's. I would really speak to Dr & ask if it's possible for you. If your only producing 3 at a time, do you want to chance it.

Option #2... if you can handle the idea of stockpiling mentally.. but I think it is the best option.

Thanks so much. I guess I have to see how first cycle goes with retrieval and how far they make it to. My previous froZens from RS of NY were frozen at day 2. I have had a few make it to day 5.

Re: decision on how to proceeed with my next IVF- frist with DR.T
I was his patient and went with option 2. I did 2 cycles, grew to day 5 and did pgd. I then did a fet cycle. I had better embryos than I ever had. I ended up with 2 normal embryos after pgd. I'm DOR and would never get a whole lot of eggs ever. I think this protocol helped my quality. I didn't get pregnant that FET but found out after having a hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy that I had an infection and inflammation in my uterus that could have prevented implantation. I ultimately ended up getting pregnant on my own and Dr. T was so happy. He is great and you are on good hands. Good luck!!

Do you mind me asking how many eggs you retrieved in those two cycles? I am also DOR and he is going for quality not quantity. Did you do CGH? is that similar to PGD?
