Dell - what the..........????
I just called Dell to place an order for a new desktop and this chick is trying to sell me upgrades for everything. I know exactly what I want... I know she's just doing her job. But she got a little carried away.
So we're discussing the configuration and she tells me "you know, I don't feel comfortable selling you a Celeron processor, I don't think they're good, you need a Pentium"
excuuuuse me, I just told you TWICE that I WANT a Celeron! 
so I said "you know what, I'm not doing this today" and hung up on her.

no, I wouldn't bother doing that. She was CLEARLY reading from a script. she sounded new.
I'm not a computer genius, but when she said how I would need more RAM to run today's applications and that's why I need a Pentium, I nicely pointed out that I upgraded to the 1 gig of RAM already, which is MORE than I need to surf the web and send emails

I was trying to negotiate $ off the price for ditching the monitor. there is no option to subtract $__ if you don't want the monitor, which I don't.

this happened to me.
I called up and i was about to place order
gave CC and then told them forget it b/c they were being so annoying and they SENT ME THE COMPUTER ANYWAY- i refused it and called my CC company
unbeleivable.

they definitely do especially they have you on hold for the longest just to get to a customer service rep i remember one time (actually it was the last time) when i called i was on hold for like an hour or more until i finally got through. terrible!!

My advice... DO NOT ORDER !!! I just spent 5 months getting my $$ back from them , it was a nightmare, and my credit card company had trouble getting the money back too! They finally got it back for us. They sold me a computer that never arrived, the 2nd one crashed , they sent someone to fix it and they had it crash on them, and then they sent me a REFURBISHED scratched one!!!! RUN WHILE YOU CAN, FAR FAR AWAY! JMHO

Yeah I would not get a dell - I had a lot of problems with my dell laptop in law school - many of the people in school who had one were always having problems. They had to send me three computers in the beginning because everytime I got it there was something major wrong with it.
A few IT people I who went to my school said that the attorneys in some of their firms had gotten the top models and found that they had refrished parts.

I've had the worst experiences with HP also. I had MAJOR drama over a printer recently.
I found the Apple cutomer service to be the best EVER, and if you must have a PC I was pretty pleased with Gateway CS. I've had my gateway since I started college in 2000, and no complaints
