Demo lesson
I have to do a demo. They follow teachers college. I am supposed to do a writing or reading workshop demo for 2nd grade in only 10 minutes. Last demo I did was text to self connections...it went really well but that was wayyyyy over 10 minutes. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions??? I don't think I've ever done a mini-lesson in only 10 minutes!! Help!

Re: Demo lesson
That is super challenging.. you must do a mini lesson and an active engagement activity in 10 minutes? or just the lesson....

Re: Demo lesson
I honestly don't know ... he said 10 minutes... and then have a plan of what would occur after. So I'm guessing just the mini-lesson.

I know Teacher's College and use it in my classroom and its almost impossible to do a mini lesson which should be 5-7 minutes, active engagement and independent work in 10 minutes....should you maybe ask them?

Re: Demo lesson
I think a mini-lesson is definitely possible in 10 minutes. I don't think they want all the other parts of the lesson aside from the actual teaching part. You can do a "show not tell" lesson or perhaps something about adding dialogue (I assume the lesson has to do with personal narratives ...). Actuall, maybe you should see if you can contact the teacher to see what genre of writing the class is working on right now. That would help with coming up with ideas for a mini-lesson.
Good luck!!

Re: Demo lesson
I think he only wants to see your 10 minute mini lesson and then have a lesson plan for the active engagement and independant work..thats what he meant by an after plan..

Do you think I need to have the active engagement supplies for the lesson.. like packets of poems and post-it notes..I guess i should bring it just in case
