Determining gender based on when you BD - was this accurate for anyone?
I was creating my ovulation calendar on a website that shows you when you should BD to have a boy or girl. The concept is that if you BD the day before and the day of ovulation you will have a boy. If you BD the 2 days prior to Ovulation and abstain from BDing the day prior and the day of ovulation you are more likely to have a girl. It sounds silly to me, but I'm super curious how accurate this is.
For those of you who tracked your ovulation when TTC, how accurate is this theory for you?

I've heard the shettles method work for some. I honestly think it's a crapshoot

I think its a crapshoot as well. My first is a boy and I had an IUI done close to ovulation. My second is a girl and I BD'd around ovulation too (I was using OPK's to let me know when I was going to ovulate).

For both my kids, I had an IUI 40 hours post-trigger. I had 1 boy and 1 girl.

I feel like that theory proved true for me, if my ovulation date was accurate based on the tracker I had.

Shettles has been disproven. If it were true I would have three boys, I have one boy and two girls.

I had IUI at 930am and felt myself ovulate at 1230pm. I was allowed to BD for a few days before. I'm having a girl so not true for me.

I don't really understand this theory. I used the tracker app that showed the gender also but my husband and I did the deed every other day. How do I know what day is the actual day that the sperm came from since it can live up to 2-3 days in there and still make it to the egg.

It's a crapshoot. If the shettles method was correct, every couple who got pregnant from an IUI would have a boy and that's obviously not the case.

Re: Determining gender based on when you BD - was this accurate for anyone?
Nope, not accurate. Lol. It's said that the female sperm is "slow & lazy" so you want to DTD before ovulation since they take their time getting there. Male sperm is supposed to be faster so you'd want to DTD ON ovulation so that it hits it right away. They're theory would be that to DTD before ovulation, the male sperm would go too fast & die off before egg is there, leaving the female sperm to get there in time. And in that regard, DTD on ovulation would be the opposite - male sperm hitting it quick while female sperm takes their time & misses it.
That seems interesting, but no. You have a 50/50 chance either way. Lmao. Years ago, i really wanted a boy so figured it couldn't hurt to try the timing & recommended positions. Had a girl. My BFF did same (actually she tried for a boy both pregnancies & has 2 girls). This time around DH & I didn't try for either bc we wanted whatever God's plan for us is. Ended up a boy. I think you just get what you get. But can't hurt to try for one or the other, as long as you don't take actual stock in it & allow yourself stress & dissapointment.

The shettles method is great- it has a 50/50 chance of being accurate.

Determining gender based on when you BD - was this accurate for anyone?
For me it held true but probably just coincidence. For my 1st I had an IUI in the morning and felt O pain that night and it was a boy. My 2nd we BD 3 days before O pain and we had a girl. This time around we BD 5 days before O and also a girl.

With my DD it ended up being true. We BDed 3 or 4 days before O and she's a girl. This time around I think we also have a chance of a girl according to the theory, but it's way to early to tell so we'll have to wait to find out.

Re: Determining gender based on when you BD - was this accurate for anyone?
It was accurate for me. We weren't trying for either but looking back after the fact, the genders turned out how they were "supposed" to. I'm not saying I necessarily believe that it works, could easily be coincidence.

Re: Determining gender based on when you BD - was this accurate for anyone?
This actually did prove true for me. I loosely tracked my ovulation on my iphone. For our first, we BD'd only one time roughly 4 days before my supposed "ovulation" and I had a girl.
For this pregnancy, we BD'd 2x, once the day before and once the day after ovulation. This time we're having a boy.
