how accurate is gender prediction at 16-17w? - UPDATED
Our next sono is 16-17 weeks and I was told we should probably be able to find out the gender.
1. I'm trying to decide when to schedule it - should I go closer to 17w so it's more accurate or can they accurately tell at 16w too? We actually got a gender guess at 12w (NT scan) but were told it's still early and could be wrong.
2. We want to do a cute gender reveal for family once we know. Is it safe to do that after a gender prediction at 16-17w or should we really wait until 20w to get confirmation? How common is it for the gender to "change" between 16 and 20 weeks?

i was just at the Dr. yesterday & they said oh u r close to 17wks we can see the sex. But hubby wasnt there so i said no ill wait until 18wks. But yes when we did sono u can totally see. But thankfully my baby wasnt cooperating. So u couldnt tell. lol

I found out this time with the twins at 17 weeks. They have confirmed it at multiple appointments since.

just scheduled the sono for 2 weeks from today -- 16w1d. The lab said they should be able to tell the gender at that sono and will be looking for it during my scan.

I found out I was having a boy at 16wk2d and it was definitely accurate. Good luck!

Good luck. I went to Impact at 16w and they correctly identified that it was a girl. It has been confirmed by 3 other sono tech as 17w, 20w, and 24w, so I am pretty confident.
