DH has an ear infecton ... should i be concerned about my 4 month old ...
DH just went to the Dr cause his ear was hurting him. Turns out he has an ear infection. He said his ear started hurting on Tuesday. He had a cold with a slight fever on Saturday.
DD has had a cold since last week. DH thinks he caught it from her. I brought DD to the Dr this past Saturday because DH and my mom did not like the sound of her cough. Dr checked her out ears too and said she's fine just a cold.
Should I be concerned about her catching the ear infection? Should I bring her to the Dr. She seems fine, just still had the cold but it is getting better.

Ear infections aren't contagious. If she already has a cold, I would make sure to keep her elevated while she's sleeping - it will help w/ the drainage of fluids that could be in her ears (if she did have any)

Yup, they cannot catch it. DS gets them almost every time he gets a cold b/c I guess his ears don't drain. Doesn't mean it happens with every child.

Ear infections aren't contagious, but he probably caught the cold from her leading to his ear infection. This happened to me twice this year already. For the first time in 20 some-odd years, I've had 2 double ear infections myself in a span of 3 months. DD has never had an ear infection her entire life, yet I keep catching her cold

Ear infections are NOT contagious, but that doesn't mean she can't get one. With a cold and congestion, she can get an ear infection since the nose and ear are connected etc. At the beginning of a cold they might be fine, but within a few days they could develop an ear infection. So if your DD is acting funny or upset etc, it wouldn't hurt to have the Ped check out her ears again.
