DH's was in a minor accident - Dealer's fault - please read!
My DH had 4 new tires put on his car last Friday by the DEALER.
Yesterday (Tuesday) he tried to bring his car back there because it was making noise and shaking when he drove it. They told him they "didn't have time to look at it, and to bring it in tomorrow (today - Wed)".
On his way there today, his TIRE FELL OFF on a BUSY road, he skidded 20 feet, and came 2 feet within a telephone pole. His car has body damage to the front right side but thank goodness he is ok and didn't hit anyone else.
The Dealer gave him a loaner car, told him they would "repair" the wheel and body damage, but they aren't sure why this happened. They "think" there was corrosion in the wheel nut or something.
It is a 2005 Subaru WRX. DH is furious and doesn't even want the car back after this happened.
What should we do? We haven't contacted our insurance company yet (DH is doing this now). Should we consult an attorney?
Thank you!!!!

YES. Consult an attorney asap.
At my old firm we handled a case almost exactly like that - turned out the dealership installed the tires improperly and didn't screw them in right. Our client was driving on the highway, with his young daughter in the back, when both front tires came off and the car collapsed on the road

Thank you for your reply! I just called DH and left him a message telling him exactly what you told me.
It is just scary because on Friday we were planning on taking his car back to Long Island (a 6 hour drive)!

Something similar happened to me, although I caught it in time. Apparently when I had new tires put on my car, they put the lug nuts back on wrong!
Thank goodness your DH is okay! I would most definately consult an attorney!

Legal issues aside, I would bring the car to another dealership, after this dealership repairs it. Have the new dealership do a full inspection on it.

I'm glad that your DH is ok. I would definatly consult an attorney. Just based on what they told your DH about possible Rust sounds like they are trying to move the fault away from themselves

Rust on a 2005's bolts?? I seriously doubt it. Other people have cars much older than that with no rust.
Make sure you contact an attorney!
