Diabetes test advice???
Just got back from the doctor and even though I'm only 21 weeks, they want to do the GD test early on me.
I've been feeling shaky and antsy after eating lately and my heart starts to race. Plus we have a family history of diabetes.
So they are going to do the GD test tomorrow morning at 8:30 and also check my thyroid.
Any advice on how best to drink this massive bottle of electric orange fluid they gave me?
Chilled? Warm? Chug it? Drink it slowly?
TIA!!

Re: Diabetes test advice???
Are you taking the fasting or non fasting one?
I took the fasting one, i couldn't take the stuff home with me, i had to drink it at the lab. I couldn't eat or drink anything from midnight before, i went 1st thing in the am.
They had me drink 1/2 the bottle of orange it was cold and i was sooo thirsty and hungry i chugged it.
It tastes like flat orange soda. I didn't mind it at all. The worst part was waiting the hour to test again, but it went quick enough and i ate in my car on the way home!
Good Luck@!

Re: Diabetes test advice???
I just had this test today. I got a fruit punch flavored drink and it was ice cold. To be honest, it was YUMMY, not too sweet at all, tasted just like fruit punch. I drank it kind of fast because I was so thirsty

I guess it's the fasting one?
I'm taking the test at 8:30 am - so I have to finish the drink by 7:30 am.
Nothing to eat after midnight.

I have a tendency to gag on things, so I'm hoping that doesn't happen with this!!

I drank it like I would any other drink. Too quick it will make you nauseous and drink it cold. Its like orange soda. It doesn't taste to bad, its the carbonation that bothered me. Good LUCK!!

Re: Diabetes test advice???
Yuck! I had to do it twice, one for the one hour test and once for the 3 hour test. Luckily, the bottle wasnt very big, dont get me wrong, it was hard for me to drink it anyway, but it was ice cold, i tried to drink it as quickly as possible just to get it over with. They didnt give it to me to take at home though, i had to stay at the lab for both tests.
Good Luck and Cheers!

Re: Diabetes test advice???
Sounds like your sugar is low. That's what I get often and I even failed the 3 hour test the 2nd time. My sugar goes too high (never higher than 200) and too low (as low as the 30's).
Advice - drink it chilled and try to relax, chug it if you like it (I actually did). Your body will do what it will do, try not to overthink it.
