Diamond District Recommendations for Rings
My coworker is ready to propose and wants to start looking at rings for his girlfriend.
Any diamond district reputable dealers you can recommend?
Also, he is from Texas- he heard that if you are out of state, you don't pay sales tax?
Please let me know - thanks ladies!

I think you need an appointment. Not sure about the sales tax.

Re: Diamond District Recommendations for Rings
We got the diamond at the diamond exchange in Sydney, but there is a place in NYC. We had a good experience so here is the link:
http://www.diamondexchange.com.au/contact_diamond_exchange.htm
Scroll down to the bottom and the city address is there. You can also buy them online, but we went there to look. I believe you need an appointment. We had the ring made at our jeweller.
ETA: you can also get info on where your diamond is from, which I thought was good b/c I wanted a non-DeBeers diamond.

Another good and reputable dealer is Jon from Good Old Gold in Massapequa.
Also a really good forum to do research -Pricescope.com.

Re: Diamond District Recommendations for Rings
David S. Diamonds is where my DH got my e-ring and wedding ring and a few other pieces. We've sent a bunch of friends there and everyone had a great experience with them. They're not pushy at all and very informative. You don't pay sales tax if you ship the ring out of state.

Bruce Fabrikant on 47th. My e-ring and wedding ring came from them.
eta-- he will have to ship the ring out of state to avoid tax-- so, tell him to make a friend in NJ.
