Diaper Pails
Which diaper pail do you ladies reccomend? Baby Bargains suggested the Diaper Champ,- which is great because I prefer using regular trashbags opposed to to expensive refills like products such as Diaper Genie. However, the user reviews on Babies R Us aren't that great at all!!! I'm really confused as to which one I should get. I'm registering tomorrow & I'm clueless on diaper pails.
Thanks!

Re: Diaper Pails
I bought a regular small stainless steal step pail from target, put a garbage bag in it and used that. I sprayed it with Lysol every night when I emptied it and one overnight a week I would fill it with hot water and PineSol and leave it outside. It never smelled!

None, spend your money on something that doesn't smell like poopy doopy!

Re: Diaper Pails
Are you set on wanting a diaper pail?
Honestly, through my two kids 14 months apart, i never had a diaper pail. I just threw em out in my household trash that goes out every night. The really stinky ones get put in a plastic bag and thrown right outside.
I was never too keen on keeping waste in their room or in a separate trash area. No matter which pail you choose it all smells!
My bro and SIL have the diaper genie 2, they loved it in the beginning when newborn pee/poo don't smell that bad, but they haven't used it since.

Re: Diaper Pails
I LOVE the diaper champ. I saw the Diaper Genie and was having a hard time opening it. Now that my DD is 1 years old, she puts the diapers in the diaper champ and flips it herself.
If you aren't sure which one to get, go to Buy Buy Baby. They have all of them on display and you can play with them to see which one you like better.
My sister had the diaper genie and once she saw me using the diaper champ, she bought one.

Same here! I make sure I empty it each day. I don't like dirty diapers in the house so I make sure to empty it twice a day.

Re: Diaper Pails
We have the diaper champ and like it a lot, so do many of my friends. It's very convenient to just be able to use the regular bags and it's easy to use. The thing with diaper genie is a pain in the neck, you have to buy expensive refills and a little hard to put them in(the kid that I babysat used to have it and they ended up buying the diaper champ) OH and whatever you do don't buy the Safety 1st Easy Saver Diaper Pail , we bought it and had to return it , b/c it's very loud and woke up and scared the baby every time I put the diaper in.

Re: Diaper Pails
Thanks ladies!
I was thinking of just using a regular trashcan & just wrapping each diaper in one of those plastic bags I get from the supermarket. ( I always have TONS of them). I really just want to steer clear of anything that requires me buying the refills.

Re: Diaper Pails
I have a love/hate relationship with my Diaper Champ. It jams a lot, and I wind up fishing out gross diapers to get it to rotate again. It also doesn't turn as easily as it should, though Vaseline around the rim helps. And definitely do not put a poopy diaper in the top--I wound up cleaning poop off the thing for a whole day--it seemed to keep appearing from somewhere.
But it's an easy way to store his dirty diapers without much smell. Our kitchen is not that close, and I just can't see wandering around the house with dirty diapers in my hands.
A lot of people like Diaper Dekor, maybe that's actually better. The Diaper Genie you need special cartridges.
