diaper rash after switching to milk from formula???
DS never had a diaper rash in 12 months. he was on sensitive formula and did beautifully on it. no sensitivity or allergy to milk formula or any other foods so far.
we transitioned him to whole milk at 11.5 months with no problems at all. he loves it and drinks it up!
the last month (pretty much as long as he's been on milk) he's had a HORRIBLE diaper rash!  at first i thought it was from being in a bathing suit since he goes in his kiddie pool almost every day. so i stopped using it and he went swimming in his birthday suit from then on. 
the diaper rash comes and goes. right now it is absolutely terrible where he cried when i wiped him. plus he's been pooping like 4 times a day this past week as opposed to his normal 2 times. that isn't making things any better.
the only other thing i can think of is the milk. could this be a sensitivity? an allergy? he's gaining weight beautifully and keeps the milk down just fine--it's just the diaper rash that has sprung up.
anyone have any ideas or suggestions??

It sounds like it MAY be a sensitivity to milk..since the rash started when you transitioned to whole milk it very well may be just that.
Even though formula is cows milk based many babies show a slight intolerance to whole milk b/c concentrations are different. Good thing is that there are no other bad signs (screaming crying after drinking it/blood in the poop etc.) that would lead me to think its an allergy...

ds is the same way. Since we switched to just whole milk, he does get red more often. I slap on the cream after every time he poops now.

Same here. Frankie never had 1 diaper rash when he was on formula and he had a severe diaper rash for almost 2 weeks after going completely on whole milk.
It may also be becausing I am feeding him almost all table foods now also.
I absolutely have to slather him in Triple Butt Paste after almost every diaper change now.

It sounds to me like this could be a sensitivity/allergy. Have you called your ped.? Since it's gone on for this long, I think it may be more than just his body adjusting, KWIM? Definitely put a call in. He may need a special cream to clear up that rash too.
In the meantime, you could switch to soy milk and see how he does.

We had the same exact thing happen to kaydyn. She actually had this reaction to yogurt when we tried to give it to her at 6 months.
What we did was wean her onto milk really, really slow. It took us prob 2 1/2 months to do it.
What we also do is limit the other dairy she eats during the day. The other day my MIL fed her the normal 3 bottles, then gave her grilled cheese for lunch, and pastina with butter and cheese for dinner....Immediate rash.
Does he eat a lot of other dairy products during the day? Maybe limit to just bottles for a little bit and see if the rash gets any better....then slowly work the dairy back in.
When she would get bad rashes we would put Triple Cream and Butt Paste mixed and then the doc even prescirbed us a cream to use as well.
Hopefully he feels better soon.

The same exact thing happened to DD. SHe never had a diaper rash on formula...but when we switched to milk, she had a horrible diaper rash for a month, if not more!
I use alot of triple paste at every diaper change, and it has solved the problem for the most part!

thanks everyone!
i'm not totally sure it IS from the milk--i'm just assuming because it started at about the time we transitioned him, but it could also be from the heat/humidity/etc.
i will call my ped if it gets much worse.
