when switching from formula to milk
do you eventually give the same amount of milk as formula? For example if Emma gets 6 ounces of formula for her morning botle is that what she would get with milk.

Re: when switching from formula to milk
Milk is a drink, food needs to fill in the nutrients now Too much milk can stop absorbtion of minerals DC needs.
My DD gets 16 ounces of milk a day-8 ounce in the am and 8 ounce in the pm as part of her bedtime routine.
My ped said max of 16 ounces of milk and no more than 3 servings of dairy a day including the milk

Re: when switching from formula to milk
DS is 17 months and he gets 3 6oz portions of milk a day. He gets milk with all of his meals and then water/juice during the day.

I started the switch at 1 years old. My oldest was bf'd until 4 months.
The recs i think are pretty much within the same range...Basically my ped says 3 servings of Milk products (8oz of milk being 1 serving=1 cup)
From a website (I dont' agree with the juice thing, this is exactly what my doc told me)
"Milk is healthy for young children as it provides them important nutrients including calcium and protein. But there is such as thing as “too much of a good thing.” In fact, too much milk can be unhealthy for children. Health experts recommend that toddlers drink no more than 16 to 24 ounces of milk a day. When toddlers drink too much, it tends to fill them up and interfere with their appetite for other healthy foods such as meat, vegetables, fruit and grains. Too much milk can also interfere with children’s absorption of iron from foods, leading to anemia"
Source-there's tons if you do yahoo/google search on Toddler Milk Issues :)
