Did a trial for Smash Cake photos . . . ugh I am pizzzzzeed
I wanted a pastel pink for the backdrop to go with the Abby Cadabby color scheme. Savage didn't seem to have anything but coral so I went with Adorama. This is the swatch color:
This is what I got in a test shoot- I am an AZZZ because I used it thinking it wasn't as off as I thought. What a joke! Now I don't know what to do- I feel like I will eventually use it for something else so no biggy, BUT I wanted to do the Smash Cake pictures on Sunday so I can get her invites done and have no idea what I am going to do. I am going to try it out again in brighter lighting to see if that makes a difference.
If it doesn't work out should I use my plain white? Should I push it back another week and order another color? Should I use a plastic table cloth instead?

I think the color looks fine! Honestly, she's such a beauty that NO ONE will be looking at the backdrop....they'll be focused on her gorgeous little face!

Thanks. I guess I am looking at it from the perspective that it is supposed to coordinate with the colors in DD's TuTu which basically coordinated with this color scheme:
It is a far cry to me from the sample color which seems much cooler and paler . . .
YIKES that is HUGE - let me try something smaller:

If you fix the WB and lower the saturation of the reds and up the luminance of the reds it will lighten it to a light pink.

the color of the paper will appear different under different lighting. Your lighting wasn't the same as theirs when they took the picture of the swatch so its hard to say its doesn't match.

I agree that it has a lot to do with the lighting and white balance. You should be able to lighten it up in photoshop.

Working on adjusting in Photoshop Elements 8 (do not have the more advanced version.) Trying to figure out if I can make the adjustments necessary without distorting my daughter's coloring as well.

Don't know if I even know how to do that on Elements the way you did. Playing around but just doesn't seem to come out the same. But I WANT to be able to make it look the same!
As for the color of the paper, it is a little off in person but the lighting definitely killed it in the pictures.

You have to use a layer mask and mask her back in so you don't change her coloring. look up a layer mask tutorial!

I like it better in the second photo and I think its great and would use it. IT is a tad bit darker then the pink , abby color pink, but I think when using pink, its ok, all pinks kinda blend together well IMO.
She is beautiful too!
