Today is my shower....UPDATED (with cake photos & NOW with BAKERY INFO)
and my mom can't make it. she's really sick with that stomach virus. since she called - i can't stop crying. she worked so hard on this with my friends to make it perfect and now she won't even be able to see this insane cake that she had specially made....(because it'll be in a box when my dad gets home from picking it up and apparently, it's delicate and she doesn't want it to get mesed up on the drive to jersey).
she was crying when she called and i can't stop....
UPDATE: well - i spent about 3 hours crying about it - cried on the way there and cried twice at the shower.... EVERY ounce of the 'gift opening' and things like that was videotaped and we'll share it with my mom next week - we have plans in place for her to come see everything at our house...
the shower itself was amazing - my friends and mom did an INCREDIBLE job of planning every last detail. on my camera - i only have pics of the cake - which was BREATHTAKING. I will upload in a few minutes!!! I cannot believe how generous everyone in my life is.....including a few very amazing girls on this website.... Once i have more pics - i'll update too....
SECOND UPDATE: Here is the bakery info....
My mom had it done at Madame Butterfly in Babylon...she LOVED the ladies there - they were so wonderful to work with she said...and it tasted INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!
The carriage part is preservable...so we're going to get to work on that (shellack, etc..).

sorry to hear that, hope your mom feels better, I know its not the same, but try to cheer up and make sure someone gets lots of good pictures for your mom!

i have our video camera battery on the charger - i'll ask someone to video the WHOLE THING....so she won't miss anything....but it's still not the same.
first thing - it KILLS me to hear anyone cry - let alone my MOM.... and that she put all this work into it not to be able to be here....i KNOW it's going to kill her too...

i'm charging my video camera battery now, my dad is bringing theirs....so i'll have one of my friends' husbands video using mine and my dad will use his i'm sure...
my best friends' mom is going to develop her pics right away and bring them over to my mom's house (they live in the same town)...
i think i'm cursed....the MAIN person throwing the shower is still in traffic in the city (was supposed to be here by 11:30 latest).
a friend of mine who was SUPPOSED to come is going to the ER....
i feel so bad for ANYONE coming now - we're ALL screweddd...

My mom missed my shower too. She was admitted to a hospital in Houston because of complications related to her heart failure.
Maybe you can do something special on another day to make your mom and you feel special. My mom helped me decorate the nursery and build the baby furniture. It made her feel special that she was a part of making the baby room ready.

I know I'm a little late here, but Jess, try and enjoy your day the best you can....remember its just a shower, one afternoon...your family/loved ones are gonna be there for all those important and non-important days, and when baby E arrives 
I hope you have some great pics and stories to share w/her, and I'm sure you will have fun opening up all the gifts and figuring out where they go
