Did age play a large factor in deciding to start a family?
If you were younger, would you have waited longer to TTC?
I feel like I was so focused on this 35 (advanced maternal age) number. I wanted to have 2-3 kids BEFORE age 35 so I felt I needed to get started sooner.
I can't help but think that we could have enjoyed our newlywed life a bit longer. Now I just feel sick all the time.

Re: Did age play a large factor in deciding to start a family?
Yes and no...
I'm only 28, but we knew that we were going to need some help conceiving. Because I know what a long and painful journey it could turn out to be, we decided to start earlier than we would have normally. It happened for us in only 3 months, but I'm a big believer in things happening when they are meant to happen.
We DID decide right from the get-go that we were going to enjoy being married and getting to know each other for awhile before getting pregnant, though. We'll have been married almost 4 years when is born. There were lots of things we wanted to do, such as taking our cruise to Alaska, that would have been much more difficult with kids in the picture.

It definitely played a role. I am 27 and we want 3 kids and I wanted to be done before 35.......
We were together 8 years before we got married so were definitely ready for the next step!

Re: Did age play a large factor in deciding to start a family?
Yes, age played a factor..I met my husband later in life. He's also 5.5 years older than me.
Had I known it was going to take 2 years/alot of fertlity drugs and invasive means to get pregnant, we wouldn't have even waited the 9 months we waited to start TTC. I don't have any regrets though and don't get upset that we didn't have more time to enjoy our newlywed life together. Our struggle has made us so much stronger and closer than I ever could have imagined. That to me, means more than anything.

Re: Did age play a large factor in deciding to start a family?
As i posted in the other question about how long together...after being with DH for over 7 years, living together for over 5 years and marraige for over a year...the only thing missing was a baby. I want 4 kids and want them all by 36/37 the latest so yeah we had to get moving...but we've had 7 long years to play and travel and do other fun things...its time for baby fun!!!

Re: Did age play a large factor in deciding to start a family?
honestly, no....
i have wanted to be a mommy since i was 15 years old. it just took me this long to find the perfect man to have my dream family with.
will it be a factor? Yes - likely. As long as things go well with this pregnancy, with our next, i will fall into the 35 and over category...so we shall see what happens...

Re: Did age play a large factor in deciding to start a family?
Yes, I think it did. I didn't want to get older before having my first child. Plus, I didn't know how long it was going to take to conceive. Luckily, for us it happened on the first try.....but who knew.

It definitely played a factor, but I also felt ready to start a family. I got pregnant at 28 and will have the baby at 29. Right now, DH and I want at least 3 kids. I'd ideally like to be done by 35.

Not initially, but since I will be 33 when I have my first, it is certainly affecting my thoughts on #2.

Re: Did age play a large factor in deciding to start a family?
I definitely would have waited longer if age wasn't an issue but nowadays we know age 35 is the magic #.
It's just riskier having kids after that age, not to mention that we want to be physically fit enough to play with our kids!

Re: Did age play a large factor in deciding to start a family?
Yes and No..
I wanted kids and was getting a little 'not young anymore' around 31. Still I felt I wasn't "ready" for a child in my life but I wanted one.
So then I was 32 and still sort of avoiding the issue. Hubby was turning 35. So I went ahead and gave it a try, in the very first month I was pregnant.
Now Im 33 and he's 35 and we still want maybe one more and I feel pressured to do that before Im 38.
If I were younger, I'd have waited. I got 5 years of marriage in first and Im grateful, but I could have lived with more!!
