Did anyone go alone to their first meeting with an RE?

I've finally set up an appt. to meet with an RE.

We tried for a year and a half before naturally conceiving our DD.

Then tried for a year for #2, but miscarried.

I'm done wasting time.

I will turn 40 at the end of the year and I finally accepted it's time to see an RE.

I set up a consultation and was lucky to get something in a week and a half. I thought my DH was off when I made the appt., but now I realize he'll be on assignment. He's the type of guy that wants to go to every appt. with me and is wonderfully supportive, but his schedule right now is also insane and I really don't want to reschedule. He of course wants me to.

Rescheduling would mean August.

Is it a big deal if I go for the first consultation alone?

My DH went with me to the first appointment and honestly I felt like he didn't really need to be there. We had a lot of our testing done before hand and the RE just went over the results which I already know from my OBGYN. He did discuss different courses of action, told me to call him with what I decided and to call again on CD1 to come back for monitoring and bloodwork.

I would call and ask if you can. The day of my IVF consult my husband got a flat on the way to the dr ( I was meeting him there) and when I told the girls at the desk they told me the dr wouldn't do it without both of us there. I even asked if we could call DH and have him on speaker phone and they said no. He ended up making it there late but they wanted me to reschedule it if he wasn't available.

My husband did come with me to ours and he did end up having some bloodwork done. But I went to other appointments there without him. I think you should call and just see if it's necessary for you both to be there or not. Honestly though, August is only a month away. Might be worth just waiting it out till you both can go.

I have been thru so many consultations with so many doctors. I think DH came to the first two. Then after that it was all me.

Im actually quite surprised that a doctor (previously mentioned) would cancel the appointment if both weren't present. I never heard of that EVER. And I feel like I've seen them all.

I'm curious what doctor required that.. Interesting!

Mine came this time but not when we were trying to have my son. I am going for a 2nd opinion and he will not be coming. We know the issues are with me and all I need him for is his swimmers the day of retrieval. IMO there is no need for both of us to miss tons of work.

I brought DH to the first appointment with me. It's the only one he's been to besides retrievals and transfers. For me, it was important for him to be there to hear everything the dr was saying and ask any questions he had. It sounds like your DH is very involved so it might not be as important for him to be there. If he's not going to be there, I would call your dr and make sure it's ok with them. I know they wanted medical history and other info from DH at our first meeting that I would not have necessarily known.

When TTC #1 he came with me to the consult, but I didn't find it necessary for him to be there. When TTC #2 I just went alone to the consult. All other appts like monitoring and blood I went alone.

When I first started the IVF journey DH came to the first consult. We spoke with the RE and he drew blood on both of us. He also came to all procedures but not monitoring appts. When we switched RE he came to the first appointment and day of my retrieval. That was it which I didn't mind; since it wasn't necessary.

I honestly don't remember if he came to the consult. He only came to other appointments if they needed him. Blood/sperm.... ER/ET.

My husband came to the consults- were on 3rd dr. Felt it was important for him to come to first mtg especially with new dr.
All monitoring appts I did solo. I also did all injections on my own. For me it was less stressful and easier.

He came to retrieval and transfers me post failure consults.
