Did anyone have a REALLY hard time installing the Britax Marathon in their car?
DH and I couldn't figure it out. For an hour we just stood there trying to figure out what the he!! we were doing wrong. We use the LATCH system in our car... we felt so stupid! LOL
We never got it in... we just put his base and infant carrier back in until we can take it somewhere to get it installed.
Anyone else?

I did too... but I think the confusing part was we were messing up the latch directions with the carseat directions. With the latch, it took us 2 minutes to install it.

We got the LATCH part attached very quickly... but there is nothing to secure the back of the seat (rear-facing).

I am pretty sure its only the latch -- that is kind of how my infant car seat base is -- two clips attach to the latch system and then the weight of the baby keeps the back down. The latch prevents it from sliding side to side.

I got it professionally installed so we had no issues.

Really??? So my 17lb son is supossed to keep the car seat weighed down if, God forbid there was an accident where we flip over??? I don't like that
ETA: Yes, at 7mo DS is only 17lbs and we are switching him to the convertible car seat. He's too long for the infant carrier/car seat and besides, it only goes up to 20lbs.

We used the LATCH too but we also tethered it to stabilize it a little more.

There should be a tether as well. There's a little pouch on the back of the seat where the tether may be stored (it looks like a seatbelt with a hook on the end).
Your car manual will tell you the best way to tether it.
Did you also recline the seat back?

Re: Did anyone have a REALLY hard time installing the Britax Marathon in their car?
We did. I youth Ed the video for it from their site and rearfacing I am using the seatbelt under he seat cover and held down by the clips. I didn't like the latch system it didn't feel as secure. I have her on the passenger side. The clips are a pain to push down. It took us a while to get. My dh had to do it then I had to have a guy at the dealership help me. Once it's in it's in. Do t ever take it out hahahaha

I think it's called Versa Tether. Check in the instruction manual.

we had a tough time as well. We had it professional installed, I think somewhere in Plainview, like a hospital maybe. They are there all the time to help.

That is a good point, never thought of it like that. I just know that is how my car seat base is - you use the two latches and that's it
Great, now i dont like that either LOL and I havent thought about it for the past 8 months!

The infant seat is different. It has the seat to weigh it down. The base seemed to on the infant carrier to be installed much tighter than the big seat. Then you have the weight of the baby and seat. Mine didn't budge. For some reason the convertible didn't feel as secure for me. So I used the seat installation.
Do worry about it. It's in there fine
