Hayley didn't like her bassinett, she was in the crib by 1 month old..since she didn't sleep in the bassinett, she slept in her swing or on me or DH. Next baby will go straight into the crib.

Re: did anyone not use a bassinett and just use the crib?

We used a bassinette the first 6 wks or so & found it easier having her in our room. She's now in her crib at 8 wks...

W/ the bassinette in our rm we still had to go to her room to change her and/or to nurse/feed her so...

At night DS was in the crib from the day we came home from the hospital. If/when he takes a nap during the day he is in the pnp or the swing or on me or DH. We have the glider in our bedroom so I feed him in our bedroom. DS is now almost 6 weeks old.

WOW! I think I am going to transition DS to the crib. Do you swaddle your DS?

I use a bassinet and am happy with it (probably will have DD in her crib by 4 mos.), but I have a friend who put her baby in his crib from day 1 and she has been very happy with that. It's really a totally personal decision with no right or wrong. Chat Icon

We used the crib from day one. I slept in their room with them for the first two months.

I wanted as few transitions as possible.

Re: did anyone not use a bassinett and just use the crib?

We used the bassinet in our room until 3 months and then the pack in play in our spare walk in closet in our room until 5 months with the door closed and THEN moved her to the crib.

Her room is on the other side of the house from us so we wanted to wait until she was older and mostly sleeping through the night.

We swaddled DS until he was 3 weeks old. We just cover him with a flat blanket right now. He wears those thicker onesies to bed (terrycloth). We put the blanket up to his mid chest and make sure his arms are over the blanket.

DD is 3.5 weeks and she has been in the crib from the start. We have a video monitor. I have spent 2 nights sleeping in her room with her just out of nervousness. ext one will also go straight to the crib.

DD was in the crib since the first night home. She's only right next door and I think it was best for us. I never had to transition her and she LOVES her cribChat Icon

Re: did anyone not use a bassinett and just use the crib?

DD was in the crib briefly, but inside the "safe n secure" sleeper thing. Then once I realized I had to get up and walk to the crib every 10 minutes when the binky fell out, I put her in my bed. I transitioned her to the crib at around 3.5 mos or so and she did great.

Steven went right into the crib and he didn't have any issues.

Re: did anyone not use a bassinett and just use the crib?

I put Jared right in his crib. I don't see the point of a bassinett. It's just something else to spend my money on.

Just my honest opinion...Chat Icon

Anthony was in the crib from day 1. I didn't want to have to deal with any sleep issues having to move him from a bassinet to the crib.

Re: did anyone not use a bassinett and just use the crib?

I was totally against the bassinet at first and only agreed to one to please DH.

But after having the c-section and BF, it was my life savior. I was so exhausted that I just took DS from his bassinet and propped myself in bed to BF.

At 11 weeks, he is outgrowing it in weight limit (15 Lbs!!!) and it only has a few inches to spare. So now I HAVE TO put him in his crib.

I am actually going to take the crib from the nursery and put it in our bedroom. I don't feel comfortable not hearing/seeing him at night. He is still so young.

Re: did anyone not use a bassinett and just use the crib?

With ds #3 I used the bassinet for the 1st wk or 2 after that went right to the crib. My first 2 were in the bassinet for a couple of months but I with ds #3 I already had the crib up from #2 so just put him in sooner then later.

We put DS in his crib from night one.

It was never a problem for us and now we have no transition issues as he's bigger because he was always in it.

Having the Video monitor helped a lot.

Re: did anyone not use a bassinett and just use the crib?

With my first he hated everything about the crib and it took forever to get him in it. He was in his little car bed by the time he turned one! With The newest addition, he hated the bassinet, would barely sleep, so after the first week I tried putting him in his crib and he sleep amazingly in it. I mean he's only three weeks today but so far so good!!
