did hal higdon's training program work for you?
I want to follow his 12 week novice half marathon training schedule for the LI Half in May. I've always been a runner, but go through periods of time where I don't run at all so I'm not in the best running shape. I have never done a race longer than 4 miles. The official start of the program to get me ready for the LI Half is February 8. So for now I'm just trying to get back into the habit of running so it won't be as difficult for me to stick to the program. Anyway...my question is...did his program work for you???

I just printed out this plan the other day. I'm modifying it and stretching it out a bit... mainly adding a little bit of distance to the long run each week (because I'm at 7 miles right now so I plan to go more than 10 for my longest run). I don't know anyone who's used it in the past though, but it looks like a good plan to me.

I use them all the time.
If you go on his message boards there are tons of successes, including people qualifying for the Boston marathon using them.
One thing that he will say (he answers every post) is that being flexible (in schedule, not body) is always important, so you can modify the program.
