Did I do the right thing re: answering my DS's questions about boobies?
DS is almost 4. Curious about everything... Tonight I was reading him books in bed. I was in my pjs. He touches my boobs and says what are these called again? I said boobies. He said, and only ladies have them? I said yes. He said, what do they do? I said they are just part of my body. Then I figured it was my opening to tell him what he's inevitably going to see them do in August when his baby brother or sister is born so I said and babies can drink milk out of them. He said tha was strange and asked how. I told him not to worry about it. He said can I see on the computer? Don't know where he got that... I guess he sees us researching stuff on the computer... Then he asked how again and asked which one they drink from or from the middle? LOL Now I feel terrible like I shouldn't have said anything at all about it... Is he going to ask about it constantly now?? Will he approach other woman??
Please help!!

I'm sorry- but this made me laugh!
I thnk you absolutely did/said the right thing! Eventually, when the baby comes, he will want to know more about what is going on- so I think you definitely picked the PERFECT opportunity to say something!
I don't think he'll go and ask other women about their boobies- so don't worry!

not there yet. But AJ saw mine once and likes to touch hers now. I call it her chest (she's 2) but yeah boobies will be next.
I do know that Sid the Science Kid show has a mom who shows the main character (Sid) everything online. So its a thing "Got questions? Look it up on the computer" haha
GOOD LUCK!

Re: Did I do the right thing re: answering my DS's questions about boobies?
I am pregnant and my 3 and 4 year olds(both girls) know that the baby will drink from there. I answer all their questions honestly. They have seen breastfeeding photos and have seen their aunt breastfeed. I think its completely natural and normal to talk about. It would be better for him to know now then to be shocked when the baby comes. They have randomly brought it up in front of others, most people chuckle and thats it.

Don't worry about it. I can see my mom saying the same thing. I think its the old school-ness in them. I always try to be honest with Kaitlyn about her body.

Re: Did I do the right thing re: answering my DS's questions about boobies?
When I was pregnant last year, my DD was 2.5 years. She was questioning boobs....I told her that's how some mommies feed their babies. She asked if she could feed her baby sister with her boobs when she was born . But she got it, and watched me nurse DD the first few times. Then the fascination died down thankfully.

If your mom asks about it again, tell him he found out from school.

I think you did the right thing.
I have a friend that explains thing via Animal Planet. When mammals have babies, their bodies make milk for the baby. Then they feed the baby with the milk. When their babies are older, they don't make milk anymore. Humans are mammals.
If you're opting to explain the bottle, you can say some moms put the babies food in the bottles to feed the baby instead.

Re: Did I do the right thing re: answering my DS's questions about boobies?
I think you did the right thing. I also agree with nbc, the fascination will definitely die down.
I didn't mention anything to my girls about BF before their baby brother was born. I guess they just figured babies drink from bottles. Well, a couple of days into it, I guess my five year old noticed for the first time and exclaimed, "MOMMY! What are you DOING?!" I was I explained to her and that was that. My three year old sometimes remarks, "Mommy you didn't feed him two times" if she thinks I only fed him on one side.
Aside from that, they've never even thought twice about it...

Re: Did I do the right thing re: answering my DS's questions about boobies?
Well, I explained to my DS that girls have breasts (boobies) and boys have pecks (chest).. I never BF but I have many friends who have so they have seen it and I've always been honest about what is what. I think that's the best way to be..

Re: Did I do the right thing re: answering my DS's questions about boobies?
my 2 year old picked up her shirt and pointed to her nipple a few weeks ago. She said "mama, what's that?" I said... "your boobs" now she lifts her shirt and says "boob". im not sure I did the best job, but I figure she's still a little young.
