did i sterlilize the bottles too soon?

I'm 37 wks 2 days and I just sterilized a bunch of bottles and pacifiers, by boiling them after cleaning them. Was this a waste? I just don't know when she's coming and want to be prepared!

yep, I bet it was.... things only stay sterile if they are sterilized in a container and the container is not subsequently opened. if you boiled everything and it's sitting out in the air now, it will have to be redone.....

Not a big deal....If you plan on formula feeding the hospital will usually send you home with some sample nursette bottles w/disposable nipples. You can then just sterilize the bottles again when you need them. In the meantime, let them air dry so they don't smell.

It honestly doesn't matter how many times you sterilize your bottles... once you take them out of the boiling water into the open air, THEY ARE NO LONGER STERILE!!!!

I didn't realize this myself til my DD's ped pointed it out to me.... He said just sterilize the once, and then make sure to wash in very hot water.....
