Re: Did someone post a chicken and apple crock pot recipe?

I got this recipe from an LIF-er:

Chicken and Apples

2 apples peeled, cored and sliced into rings
1 onion sliced thinly
1 lb. boneless skinless chix cutlets sliced thin
1 can chicken broth
2 cans condensed cream of celery soup
2 TBSP rosemary or thyme
salt and pepper to taste

Layer the apples, on the bottom of the crockpot, then on top of that layer the onion, then ontop of that the chicken. Mix the condensed soup with the chicken broth, pour over layered ingredients, then add the rosemary ontop. Cook 4-6 hours.

It didn't say so I'm not sure...I haven't made it yet!!

If the chicken is thinly sliced I might say low is ok.

ETA: Let me know how it turns out!!

This sounded so good and simple, just changed plans and threw this in the crock pot! I figured I'd do two hours on high and then two on low.

Updating to say that this was sooo easy and definitely yummy! I think next time I'll add more apples since they were mostly disintigrated into the sauce. We had it over noodles with green bean casserole. Perfect fall meal!

So good to know. I plan on preparing this tonight so it can cook all day tomorrow. Is 8 hours on low too long? If it is, I will make it for 6....but I'm not home all day, so it will just have to set to Warm when its done.

Also, what else did you serve with this?? I'd like to do a veggie...just not sure what? Maybe over rice?

Thanks!

DH just put this on the crock pot! I didn't have time this morning because I was running late so I asked him to do it. No time to do the apples as directed, so he just cored the apples with the apple corer that slices into 8 pieces and put them in like that. I hope it still comes out ok!!!

I served it over rice with a side of snow peas.
I do think 8 hrs is too long. I did mine for 2 hrs high 2 hrs low and the apples were pretty much melted in. Next time I would leave the pieces bigger so there are some left when its time to eat and Id just do 4 hrs on low I think. HTH

Thanks!
