Did TIME Magazine go too far with it's latest cover??
Yes I htink this just goes too far. Does it protray the reality and horror of the event? Yes. But there were many other powerful photos they could have used. The look on the poor childs face breaks my heart.

I don't think it's too far. CNN replaying the bombing over and over and over again was way worse than this to me. It's heartbreaking, but it's meant to shock the senses.
This.
It's not a graphic image. Is it painful? Does it conjure up major emotions? Sure. But that's the point.
ITA. I've avoided a lot of images because I don't do well with blood and I know people lost limbs. I think they captured the terror everyone felt without sensationlizing with a photo of a person missing a leg.

Re: Did TIME Magazine go too far with it's latest cover??
I do not feel it went too far. Like others have said it is not graphic. Yes, the look on the child's face is heartbreaking but that is what happened and that is what the boy felt. Not showing the picture does not make it any less true for those who went through it. I think people NEEd to see images that show the raw emotion of the human condition so we do not become detached. It keeps the event from becoming abstract.

Nope, it doesn't go too far. Our media really filters out the reality of violence, which is ironic because we're exposed to plenty of fake violence in movies and games. This is what happened. It is ugly, it is horrific. It is the truth.

No - as long as they had the permission of the parent, I think it was fine.

Re: Did TIME Magazine go too far with it's latest cover??
I closed my browser almost immediately after seeing it, and if I had my own private office I'd probably close my door and cry for a minute... but I don't so I can't..
I don't think it's too far. I think this country is very big and the farther away you are geographically from this kind of incident, the easier it is to emotionally distance yourself from what happened. This cover doesn't let you do that.
As New Yorkers, we all feel it because we've already lived through our own hell, but otherwise it's easy to stick your head in the sand and think this couldn't happen to you.

Not at all IMO. There are far worse images that I would have considered too far.

I don't think it is too far. A pic of the guy who's lower leg was hanging off or the picture of the woman who was dead on the street.. THOSE are too far.

Did TIME Magazine go too far with it's latest cover??
No. That's the truth and reality of what happened. It should hurt to look at, it's horrible, and even more horrifying for what people went through who were there.

Re: Did TIME Magazine go too far with it's latest cover??
As a mother it breaks my heart. I see my daughter in that boy's face. The night it happened my DD was in the living room watching a Disney Jr show. I went down the hall to.the computer room and was watching footage of the blasts. Maybe the volume was up too loud but when the blast.went.off all of.a sudden.my DD was hysterically.crying I ran in there and asked what was wrong. She said "I'm scared" and was inconsolable. The fear on her face was awful. I held her and comforted her but all I could think of was the children that were there. If she was this shaken up from hearing the blast on a computer 3 rooms away, could you imagine the fear in the children that were there? It is.unimaginable to.me. Still I.don't think.this pic goes too far. I think it.needs to be.seen.

While it is unbearbaly heartbreaking to have to see, it is THE REALITY of what happened. I cannot imagine if it were my child, but I dont think it is too graphic and I think it really evokes emotion. Maybe it should serve as a wakeup call to "look what we are doing to one another, our children"
I agree
I agree also.
