I don't know ... I just didn't think I'd be spending $100+ on boots with a Made In China tag inside ... wasn't what I was expecting
I should have stuck with my $19.99 fUggs from Target ...

Uggs are mass manufactured...in case you haven't noticed, everybody and their momma has a pair.
The best part is that they probably cost less than $10 to manufacture.
(They're probably being manufactured by the same factory that makes the $20 knock off Uggs at Target. )

Re: Did we know Uggs were made in CHINA?
a lot of things are made in China. For example, some of the private-label bags that I manufacture for my client are made in the same factory that makes Marc Jacob's and Donna Karen's bags.
Just because something is made in China doesn't mean it isn't good quality.

Re: Did we know Uggs were made in CHINA?
The first pairs of UGGs (trademark) were made in Australia. I got a pair with the UGG trademark over in Australia (I live there). I got another pair (UGG trademark) over in NY and those are made in China. They got so popular that they had to produce them elsewhere. The population in Australia is equal to the population in NYC. Since the demand is so great, they needed to produce elsewhere.
I got another pair of UGGs (non-trademark) for Xmas and those are made in Australia. UGG boots over there are just sheepskin boots, not the brand.
The UGG trademark is trademarked in America. It is an American brand and at the end of the day the Americans make the most money b/c they own the trademark. But they need the sheep and since whenever you leave the cities in Australia all you see are sheep...
If you get a chance to visit Australia take the time and get a REAL pair of sheepskin boots. They are made better and the sheepskin is higher quality. People (men and women) over there wear them around the house. My husband loves his. Sometimes you will see people out in public, but that is mainly late at nite at the supermarket or 12 year old girls. My husband laughs at me when I wear them out in daylite...
ETA- It is almost impossible (now, wasnt a few years ago) to find the trademark UGGs over there. Same thing with Fosters beer...

Coach bags used to be made in Italy but now ALL of them are made in China - and yet they keep raising the price

Re: Did we know Uggs were made in CHINA?
almost everything is made in China-
I have been in product development since I started working- and all that time- everything I have made is made in china
China has come along way- it is not a bad thing anymore-
if they were made in the USA- they would be $400 and no one would buy them

Re: Did we know Uggs were made in CHINA?
If I'm not mistaken before they were made in New Zealand but when the Ugg craze struck they have to have them manufactured in China to keep up with demand. My first pair were made in New Zealand and they fit true to size. The second pair I have were made in China and run one size big.

Almost everything is manufactured in China or Asia.
And even if it an item reads Made in France or Made in Italy...it may still in fact be made in China.

So what exactly is a REAL pair of sheepskin boots?? Is there a brand or something?

What's wrong with owning products/goods manufactured in China?
My DH happens to be a manufacturer/importer/wholesaler, so I hardly see my "view" as lazy.

I'd bet money that a lot of the goods you think are made in Brooklyn are in fact imports from India, Vietnam and other countries in Asia.

ummmmmmm theyre most definatly NOT! i buy from small boutiques... not big corporate chains..... why would you even say that? i used to work at a boutique and dealt first hand with the actual deisgners & artists.
alot of my clothes are from Challengher NYC which she makes IN HER SHOP IN BROOKLYN. you can go there any given day and see her deisgning & sewing.
if youre so sure, id love to put money on it... and then ill take you to them directly.

You think small boutiques don't purchase goods from overseas!?!
