Did you / will you dye your hair during your first trimester?

I'm just curious to see what everyone is doing about this.
I usually use semi-permanent to cover grays. My dr. told me to wait until after the first trimester, but he said his wife is also a gyno and tells her patients that its OK.
I'm miserable being so gray, but feel like if I do go ahead and dye it, I will hate myself after, and be nervous, and if gd forbid anything was wrong, I would blame myself.
On the other hand, I know soooo many people who have done it.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I waited on my highlights/lowlights until 14 weeks. I was just extra cautious.

I did. At 6 weeks I believe I was. They used and amonia free dye and I also got highlights.

I highlighted once during my 1st trimester. My cousin does it. Since I've been pregnant she stays a little further away from the root and only puts me under the dryer for a few minutes. It takes a little longer, but I feel better about it.

I've heard highlighting is safer than a single process since it doesn't touch your scalp.

i might...we'll see how my roots are but i go darker so very low amonia...we'll see i'll try to wait until the 2nd tri

No. I am not going to dye until after DD is born.

I did a non permanent at about 11 weeks, I was mostly concerned about the smell because of M/S. The smell still bothered me! I just did a semi permanent at 16 wks.

I did color and highlights a little after 12 weeks.

I did. My dr. has no problem with it.

I actually got my hair highlighted the day I got my BFP - I had an early afternoon appointment and wasn't feeling right afterwards, so I took a test when I got home and lo and behold, there was that second line! Oops! My doctor said it was fine, though.

I waited until 17 weeks, though, to get it done again.

I really wanted to, but It just wasnt worth it for me. Plus I hear that the pregnant body is depleted of its normal amounts of zinc. With out zinc hair dye can totally just ruin your hair. Another reason why perms wont stick on pregnant women.

My friend had to cut her hair almost all off after getting highlites, it didnt take well because of the hormones.

Then again some women have no problems. I just wasnt willing to risk it, for me or the baby.

I dealt with the grays and waited until I was 13 weeks.

I should have colored my hair a week before I got BFP.

So it was BAD and I used Natural Instincts somewhere before 12 weeks because I just couldn't take it anymore.

I went to aveda and got highlights at about 22 weeks. I didn't want do it in the first tri..

No, I waited until the second trimester to do my highlights.

I am almost 15 weeks and am dying to get my hair done. My OB said Aveda would be fine because it is plant based, but I am still nervous. I REALLY want to make the appointment, but I haven't gotten up the nerve yet. I may just have to stay gray the whole pregnancy like I did with DD because I would never forgive myself if something happened. Now I am thinking about doing it after 24 weeks....still not sure.

To answer your original question, my OB did say to wait until after the first trimester.

i had highlights done the DAY before i got my bfp...(i was 100% positive AF was coming).

my doc okayed my hair dye (peroxide free) for second trimester on and i plan to use it tonight (my shower's tomorrow)....

I so wish I dyed my hair before the BFP
I was over due for it, and my grays are soooo bad.
Oh well.
DH usually helps me cover my grays with the natural instincts semi-permanent, and he is vehemently opposed to my doing it now, so I think it will prob have to wait until after 12 weeks.

I hate the grey hairs too, but I am not going to dye my hair the entire pregnancy. This is one of those things where the risk is just not worth it to me.
