I went to sukons today & realized that the baby pieces aren't that big and cost the same as the big kid furniture. I think I'm going to buy a dresser, mirror & armoire from jessica mcClintock & a young america crib. I was just wondering if anyone else did the same.

we just got the crib... we got a regular dresser that we attached a changing pad to- i thought to buy a changer was ridiculous.

We bought two cribs.

Glider was used.

Two dressers we had, put them together and placed a changing table on top.

I didn't want to spend the $$$ on a nursery that would only get two years of use.

This spring we will be buying two big boy/big girl bedroom setsChat Icon . I only buy all wood so it's going to be Chat Icon but it will be classic and they will have their sets until they move out in 18-19 years.

Our Munire crib converts to a bed and the matching furniture is not babyish at all...so DS will have this furniture for life, hopefully.

I bought furniture that he will have until he moves out...hopefully. I heard some baby furniture was smaller than the norm but mine isn't.

The geek that I am actually took one of my hangers to BRU to hang in the armoire to make sure it would fitChat Icon

My Mom bought our cribs from JC Penney and we purchased two dressers on CL for $40 and my husband painted them. We are using one in our room and one in the boys room-I also got a glider-bought a small tabel on CL for $20 and repainted a wicker bookshelf that my SIl gave me. I posted pics on pregnancy last month if you feel like looking in my pregnancy album

We got a nice sized armoire and changing table that matched the crib from babies r us. But the changing table just looks like a long dresser with a little lip in the back. It doesnt look like baby furniture at all and is big enough for both of my kids clothes.

I got a convertible crib and a changing table that somewhat resembles a dresser. Thats how she is using now. However, if I could go back, I would just get "big kids" furniture. The baby stuff lasts such a small about of time.

I just got a crib and used my Etan Allen furniture that was mine as a child. I've actually never liked it much, but it was free!!!

we bought a crib and a changing table, but we did get a regular-sized dresser.

the changing table has 3 drawers so it can still be used when we no longer need the changing table part.

i agree with you, i don't think there is any real "need" for baby furniture other than a crib, i think it's a good idea to get regular-sized things for when your DC is older.

We also got the lifetime sets for both DC. We are converting DS's crib/daybed to a full-size bed this weekend, and all of the furniture "works" for a 5 yo, and even a 15yo. I'm planning on them keeping it as long as they live with us (and they can take it with them after they move out)
