Re: Did you buy larger regular clothes before buying maternity clothes?
YES, I got a few things in bigger sizes (which I'm now growing out of too) and I was lucky enough to have tons of maternity clothes donated by my SIL and friends. XOXOXO BOTB

Re: Did you buy larger regular clothes before buying maternity clothes?
I didn't. I had just started wearing maternity clothes in July last year - I was barely showing but my regular clothes didn't fit and I just didn't see the point in buying clothes larger. I gave birth in January so summer clothes in a larger size weren't going to help me anyway after the fact.
And re: buying maternity clothes now to fit you later - you only have to make sure you get through this season with them because again, in the dead of winter when you're 6, 7, 8 mos. pregnant you're NOT going to be wearing capris and short-sleeve shirts!
IMO, buying regular clothes in a larger size only works when you're delivering in the spring or the fall when you can wear the same weight clothes.

Re: Did you buy larger regular clothes before buying maternity clothes?
I didn't with DD, however after having her I was up a few sizes in pants. I bought a few roll-up drawstring pants from gap similar to these but more of a cargo than a jean and I am wearing them now at 14 weeks for a little extra room. The drawstring is nice so that you can adjust it since the rest of the pant is really too big.
I plan on wearing them PP too and I liked that they could be worn as pants when it is cooler if you unbutton them.
Gap maternity also has these which are no belly (there is an adjustable elastic waist band) with the same roll-up concept that I am going to start using and plan on using post partum.

I bought maternity clothes, since the only place that's growing is my belly.
Same here - and my boobs!

Re: Did you buy larger regular clothes before buying maternity clothes?
I bought the larger clothes, and wore them for most of the rest of the pregnancy. Only now, and 37wks 2 days, do I feel them to be a little tight.
Except for yoga pants from Lands End. They have been my trusty friend this whole pregnancy, and still feel great. I bought them in a Large, and typically wear a medium.

Re: Did you buy larger regular clothes before buying maternity clothes?
I really don't want to since it's almost the end of summer, but I'm not sure how I can avoid it! I'm only 5 weeks & I literally can't button most of my pants. I am so bloated. I didn't have this problem until around 12 weeks in my first pregnancy.

I did for my first PG & I will tell you I used them when I was losing the baby weight too.
I was going to say this as well. I bought a couple of pairs of pants and a couple of skirts with elastic waists. You will wear them after you give birth for a couple of months too.

For my whole pregnancy, I wore a combo of both.

nope. I will not want to wear anything that reminds me of looking pregnant after the fact. I went straight to maternity clothes.
