Did you BUY or ADOPT your pet?
and what kind of pet do you have?
I have this feeling that most cats are adopted, while there is kind of a mix with dogs....

I replied other cuz we adopted both...
Espresso came from Pet's Warehouse in Copiague. We adopted him for $40 and then got our money back after we had him neutered.
Misty was adopted through the Weimeraner Rescue Site. The couple who owned her were going to take her to the pound.
Edited to add - Espresso is cat and Misty is a dog. As if you guys didn't know that.

Bought - cat from a breeder; it was a reputable breeder, so the "sale" is more like an "adoption" where the breeder may take the cat back if I can't ever take care of him or if I'm doing a bad job. I signed a contract.
Bought - dog from breeder; no contract.

DH bought Dottie. Afterwards he realized the place was not so reputable, so I say we saved her. 
I've told eveyrone I know to stay away from there. We also have vowed to only adopt in the future.

The cats we had in my family's home were all adopted.

We adopted our Dog and our cats , well we have 3...one was from a friend whos cat had kittens, one we found alone in the crawlspace of our basement and hand fed...and the other was from a litter a cat we had that got PG had.

We adopted our dog and cat. Our dog is a pure bred cocker spaniel we got him from a shelter. Our cat is a long haired cat that we got from the ASPCA.

rescued. a naked man gave him to my uncle who then gave him to me. i kid you not. long story of how we learned he was available, but he was an owner surrender. my uncle went to pick the dog up at a pre-arranged time and the former owner carried him out to the car--naked (the man and the dog).
my uncle kept the dog for a day and then decided that he was a bad dog because he ate food out of my uncle's other dog's bowl. everyone knows that dogs who eat dog food out of a bowl that was placed on the floor must be really bad. so, Oscar was offered to me after he committed this crime.

I adopted my kitties from a shelter and a foster carer. One was 9 months when we adopted her and the other was 8 weeks when we adopted him and we took him home at 12 weeks.

The first dog we ever had we bought from a pet store. He was an English Springer Spaniel and we named him "Dudley". That was over 28 years ago. Since, then every dog we have had and do have we adopted, either privately or through a shelter. They've all been female, shepherd mixes with the exception of my "Lady". She was a terrier mix. So, far a total of 7.

Bought and im SO ashamed of it. I did it 4 yrs ago before i was aware of puppy mills etc. If i didnt love Luca so much, id say it was the biggest mistake i ever made. But he was worth it but i would NEVER do it again. Id only adopt or get from a breeder
