Other. All of our pets growing up were adopted in some way. Our dog was tied to a tree in the park with his littermates. Cat was a stray, we thought she was a HE, and a few weeks after we convinced my mom to let her inside...we had a litter of kittens. We kept them, only one survived. She passed away a few years ago, after living for 22 years!
When I moved out on my own, I bought my cat from a pet store. I feel terrible about it now, but at the time, I didn't know better. My other cat is a stray. I found her as a kitten.

Coda was purchased from a reputable lab breeder. We got him at 8 weeks old & picked him at at 4 weeks old. The parents were on the premise

3 cats 2 were adopted from shelters one was born under ther stairs from a stray My friend co-worker had.
My dog was adopted from a shelter

Siames cat - adopt - but cost/donated $120.00. She was rescued from Ohio, was in foster parents in TX for about a month then flown to us here in CT.

a friend found 2 kitties in his yard, we took them both but they were sick so only one made it... so I guess we adopted her

DH bought Dottie. Afterwards he realized the place was not so reputable, so I say we saved her. 
Us too... We didn't know any better 
We never even owned a dog before- we had to learn everything like even how to house train her. She turned out great-- and we def saved her, like you said, from that bad place!!
But even though we have never had a dog before she is VERY well behaved and we spent a lot of time training her.

Bought 2 cats from breeders. I do TNR of ferals and I’ve rescued 16 cats from 'outside' (feral colonies) and found them homes and have adopted 2 cats (one from Save-a-pet and one from when I lived in Oswego). So I have 4 cats in my home. I want to adopt a greyhound but DH said we have to wait until we put an extension on our house.
Aww, we want a Greyhound too one day!
I also adopted two cats before from Kent Animal Shelter and now my ex BF has them (it's OK though, it was a good break up) and I still see them- "visitation rights" lol
Then, my sister and I rescued two cats-- one from Suffolk CCC and the other from a tourist stop at the GRAND CANYON in Arizona! My sis brought "Phoenix" lol home on the plane with her!

Our first cat we adopted from Kent Animal Shelter, the next two we adopted from Pets Warehouse in Copiague, and the 4th we just got from a woman who had stray cats that had kittens and she was giving them away.

We have 2 cats. Both are adopted.
I guess you can say my DH rescued our first cat when she was a baby. She was born in his garage. Her brother died and the mother disappeared. She was all alone, and my DH just fell in love with her.
Our second cat was adopted from Last Hope Animal Shelter when he was a kitten. We did have to pay a fee, but I think it was more like a "donation", plus he was neutered and he had his first round of shots before we got him.
