Did you check the sex offender registry?
Before bidding on a house?
My DH did but if he didn't do it I would have never thought to do it

No... because I truly believe ignorance is bliss. But if I had kids I'd feel a little different but I would never let my kids around any neighborhood with out supervision.

yes but in all fairness i only did it because i saw the link on hand one day. I did it for my entire town and I pretty much was spot on where the people were.
A big thing for me is what exactly is their crime, i have a friend that is on the list but it boggles me that he is labeled a sex offender. He had sex with a 16 year old girl who was his GF and he was 20 (she was turning 17 and he just turned 20) but her parents hated him so made this big deal out of it. Oddly enough she is pregnant with her third kid with the third father still living at home (is now 28) to me that was not a crime but the law is the law.

I agree.
it does list all the details so you can easily see that to make the judgment call

yes....
i wouldnt move to a place that had a ton of listed offenders (even for my own sake, not just if i had kids b/c there are rapists listed also) - it is really creepy...
i went through a bunch of zipcodes and found that the areas that i considered "bad" had the most offenders...that isn't to say a really nice neighborhood can't have any but it seems like there are clusters of bad people living in certain areas - at least it appeared that way when i checked it out (this is in FL)...
the site for my county shows their picture and address and also lists the offense(s)...
there were more offenders in my old neighborhood in staten island! maybe b/c there are a lot more people living in my old area in SI compared to FL? the more people i guess the higher the chances?  it's weird b/c we lived in what i considered a nice area of staten island...
i don't know it creeps me out just thinking about it

Nope, I worry much more about people who aren't on the list than people who are. Sex offenders could be anywhere, anyone, people you know, etc.

Technically no I did not, but I had looked up my parents area and dh's parents. They only live 5 minutes apart and our house is in the middle, it is less than 4 miles from either parent. So where I didn't look it up, I knew.

I did....and strangely the few sex offenders in my town all lived in an extended stay hotel....sketchy! But none in the actual neighborhoods.

Yes I did...there were none around here.
A friend almost went to contract on a house...right before they were going ot sign, she decided to check the registry, and it turned out that there was one living across the street. They didnt sign the contract.
