Re: Did you dress the baby in "real" clothes while in the hospital?

I left G in the karate shirts (that's what DH called them). It made it easier for the nurses to change him and to take care of his umbilical cord stump. I think had i thought about it I would have maybe brought a special hat or something.

Also, they mess their clothes so often that I would not want the nurses to have to make sure our stuff was separate than then general laundry.

we weren't "allowed" to. We wanted to put him in a Mets onesie, but the hospital said it could get lost and they didn't want to be responsible.

DS1 was in the regular nursery so he stayed in the little t-shits they provided and he was swaddled in their blankets.
DS2 was in the NICU. Once the babies go into the step down unit, they recommend that the parents dress then in the cute little outfits so they can be as "normal" as possible. The nurses change their outfits each day and match the little blankets. They love it! Thne cuter, the better Chat Icon

No, I left them in the hospital clothes. I mentioned dressing them to the nurses and they said I was crazy- why start with laundry while in the hospital? I decided they were right!

I left him in the hosptial clothes. For some reason I got the impression that they (meaning the hospital staff) wanted it that way. We were only there for 2 days anyway.

I just left him in whatever the hospital provided, right up till we came home. We weren't going anywhere, I figured why get him dressed, lol! Planning on doing the same with this one.

He wore their clothes and stuff until the morning we left.

yep, DS also....

It was sort of nice doing that... When we left, it felt rather symbolic to take him out of the hospital clothing and put him in his own clothes and put him in the carseat for the first time Chat Icon

Same here with both my kids.

Ditto ! And I'm thinking that the nurses/doc prefer it that way also, it was just easier...

We left both kids in the hosiptal "attire" tshirt and it was fine for us. It actually made the process more comfortable since I was breastfeeding and unwrapping them to wake them up and put them on me alot of the time.

My mom bought Lance and I matching PJs for the hospital. So yes, I dressed him in those.

I just left them in hospital stuff. I didn't want to put them in onesies because of the umbilical cord.
