I know my mom said when I was born there was a gift at home for my big brother from me... I liked that idea a lot...

#2 is due 4 days after DS's birthday. I'm sure we will have plenty of new toys in the house already.

I think it's a great idea though.

We did... We had DD#1 make a small build a bear to give to her sister and we secretly made a build a bear for DD#1 that we gave to her when I was in the hospital and told her it was from DD#2. She loves that bear and was so excited that her baby sister got her a gift.

Yes, we just got DS the Handy Manny toolkit/truck thing that turns into a tool bench. We will bring it to the hospital for the new baby to "give" it to DS. I know my parents and my inlaws have said that they plan on giving DS something too. I have a lamaze firefly for DS to "give" DD.

I gave DD her own baby doll which she LOVED - this way she could change the baby doll or feed her etc while I was changing or feeding the baby.

We had a gift from Mommy, Daddy and her baby sister waiting for Victoria when I got back home from the hospital.

We also had her pick out a special present that she gave to her baby sister as well

I didn't because I wanted a baby sister to be a gift in and of itself. He's only 2 and was excited enough to meet her.

My sis did and bought her DD a leapfrog game (the hand held one) and all she did was squeal over excitement and that her BROTHER got this for her and how much she loved him.

It was really a great idea and cute thing to see too.

i did. each time she visited me in the hospital i had a tiny thing for her. like a new book, or a little Dora backpack with snacks in it. kept her happy and busy at the visits! when we got home, i had the fisher price my first dollhouse for her to open.

Yes. When DD came to visit me & her new brother, we gave her a game, Pretty, Pretty, Princess, from the baby. She felt special & it gave her something to play with while visiting.

When I was in the hospital, Al took Ella to TRU to have her pick out a present for herself and for the baby. She was more into giving than receiving.

I would think I would - DS gets jealous now when I'm with other kids. He's 18 mos. He likes to help me and I saw at www.boscovs.com a few months ago a mini baby set-up (swing, stroller) so he could do what I was doing to the baby to his toy. he likes to copy what I'm doing.

I also like the other ideas of a gift from the new baby or taking #1 shopping for gifts for #1 and #2.

(BTW - not having #2 yet or anytime soon so...)

I made DD#1 a t-shirt with sequin letters that said Big Sisters Rock and gave her a cute Gund photo album that said, I am the big sister for pictures of her and Peyton.

I think it's a great idea. My DS was 27 months when my DD was born. He got a doctors kit and another little toy. He loves the doctor kit and whenever he plays with it he says "present from baby!"

Yes, i gave her something in the hospital to open. I didnt want her to feel left out when everyone was bringing the new baby something. Actually, a few people that came to visit me brought the new baby AND DD something just so she wouldnt feel left out.

We gave her the fisher price digital camera for kids so she could take lots of pics of her new brother. She loved it and still uses it.
