Did you have a chocolate fountain? Was it worth it?
We are throwing my mom a birthday bash on December 20. A chocolate fountain is pricey, so I want to be sure it would absolutely be worth it. I don't want to pay for this thing if you noticed at your event that people only sporadically went near it. (I know weddings are different than birthday parties of course.)

Honestly, I am a chocolate freak, but I never saw the appeal of a chocolate fountain. I wouldn't spend the money on it personally. I've enjoyed them at weddings, but never went ape over them. I think they're a nice touch, but not really worth it for ME.
Granted, if you have a chocolate fountain at a party, you can be assured I will try it.

Re: Did you have a chocolate fountain? Was it worth it?
I had one and it was fantastic. The spread was gorgeous - and it was all DELICIOUS.
It was fun too! Seeing my goddaughter's mouth covered in chocolate, watching my son sneak over to steal some of the marshmallows and Krispie treats and having my drunk MOH force feed me a chocolate covered strawberry.. good times.
It made me smile to see the chocolate on my veil the next day.
I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Re: Did you have a chocolate fountain? Was it worth it?
I am a germaphobe.
So basically...I am afraid of the double dipper.
I would NEVER have a dip station for many people and their mother to dip in...unless it was a VERY small crowd and I could keep an eye on it.
All that dipping, and the recirculating of the dippage...ugh, it makes me gag.
But, that's just me and I have issues.

Re: Did you have a chocolate fountain? Was it worth it?
Everyone always loves the chocolate fountain at any event I've been to. But I agree with a PP that it is better to have it set up and brought in by a professional company.

Re: Did you have a chocolate fountain? Was it worth it?
I had one at my wedding and my guests loved it! I went to an E-Party where they had one and it was also a huge hit. If you can afford it I say go for it. (And this is coming from someone who hates chocolate)

Re: Did you have a chocolate fountain? Was it worth it?
Had one at my wedding and also a HUGE hit!!!! It also made the entire room smell sooooo delicious....Everyone raved about it, and it's my favorite part of any event that has one.
Can you try to negotiate down to $5 pp? I think we added it at the very last minute and got it for less than originally offered...but that was over 4 years ago...

Another chocolate freak here and my issues with the chocolate fountain is that the chocolate is of very low quality. So for me it would be a no as well...

I am a germaphobe as well and if you ask the catering hal they will tell you, they don't change the chocolate. it would be impossible and a huge a waste (thats what they told me) I could NEVER eat from one of those.
But in any event i have never been to, its always a huge hit!
