Did you hug your kids a little tighter this morning?

This morning I was SO much more conscious of how I reacted to small morning stressors that in the grand scheme of things are no big deal. I was much more patient with my DC than normal, I used a kind tone, instead a a rushed/annoyed tone when we were trying to get out the door. I was late to work bc I spent extra time just hugging them and kissing them. If it is the ONLY good thing to come out of this for me, I truly feel it has made me take a step back as a mother and be a better parent.

My son was sick so he's home but...

There was no rushing. I hugged them both this morning.

My daughter & I talked about how it may be hard for the teachers - especially the teachers who are moms. She said she'd give her teacher a hug from me because she could probably use it. Then she also said it must be hard because as parents, you can't keep your kids in a box. You have to let them live their lives & hope for the best. (yes, that's what my NINE year old said!)

And in the car ride to the school, there was blasting loud music, singing & seat dancing.

Because that's what I want my daughter to remember most - the fun, the laughing, the singing & the dancing.

I walked the whole way holding his hand. Usually I tell him to run ahead bc he is getting to be a big boy but not today!!!!

Sure did.

I walked him to the doors. I normally just drop him at the parent drop off curb and he walks in. Not far from where I drop him. I said I love you like 20x. I had to fight back tears when he disappeared through the doors with his friends. I just stood there with my younger ds in my arms and silently sent a prayer up for his and the whole schools safety.

Every single parent I saw today was hugging their babies tighter.

Sure did! The bus pulled up and it took all my might to watch him step on and the bus to drive away.
My DD is in pre-k and I hung out a bit longer than usual. So hard to leave. Hug & kissed her too. Lots of extra hugs, kisses, and prayers.

And I held her hand the walk to school.

But she doesn't know about it, I didn't tell her.

I pray for those babies and their families.

Yes and I cried the whole way home I had hoped my DD would feel sick yesterday so I could keep her home. I am so affected by this tragedy in CT and I can barely look at my DD's first grade class without crying.

Yesterday, I drove by my DD's school twice during the school day to make sure all was quiet around there. I was incredibly jumpy all day. Every time my phone would ring I would get startled.
