Never used one.
They made me nervous. What happens if you have an active DC that wiggles around, and they shift down and turn, so their head is caught up against the pillows? DS moved around a lot, and I could definitely imagine him getting caught in the positioner, and having a hard time breathing.
This is why Consumer Reports does not recommend them so I don't plan to use one when baby comes.
i never planned on using one either. but after several nights of NO sleep and a SCREAMING infant who could not be consoled, we bought one and it has been wonderful. i'm not worried about it at all. it has a fake heartbeat and although DS is getting big for it, we still put his head on the end of it.
it's amazing how much better he sleeps and we NEVER had another episode of all night screaming again.
