Did you use bumpers in the crib? (not the breathable ones)
I never did with DD, I used the breathable ones... although she rarely slept in her crib so it didnt really matter. But my friends have used there bedding set bumpers... I thought it was a SIDS hazzard? I'm looking at stuff for our next DC and am wondering if its okay to use them?

I believe it is a SIDS hazard- but I used them- and still do. We tried to get the breathable ones, but they didn't fit on my crib.

I put them in when my kids were 9 months. Not when they were smaller

Re: Did you use bumpers in the crib? (not the breathable ones)
I have used them all along thus far, but DD didn't roll from her back to her belly until she was 6 months, and now at 81/2 months they are very important because she falls a lot and has a lot of close calls! Also, I know someone whose son fell in his crib and hit his head on the crib rail and had to get brain surgery and a shunt put in bc of intercranial bleeding! I think I will stick with the bumpers, thanks!

No, I never used them and it was a total waste of $$. DS face was always in the side and I worried too much about SIDS.

Re: Did you use bumpers in the crib? (not the breathable ones)
DD is almost 2.5 years and we still use them. I had breathable ones but never needed them; if she EVER gave me a worry (face pressed up against them, tangled in them, etc) I would have yanked them out, but she never has.

Re: Did you use bumpers in the crib? (not the breathable ones)
#1 had them, but didn't sleep in his crib much - went o big boy bed at 20 months
#2 never had them. i had no desire to buy crib bedding that I would just use for 1.5 years.

This was the same with us. The first time I saw DS face smooshed up against the regular bumpers, we took them right out.
We won't use them for #2 either. (we do have the breathable ones.

Re: Did you use bumpers in the crib? (not the breathable ones)
I never used the regular ones with my DD when she was small but at 14 months old I just put them back in because she's always banging her head against the rails because she likes to squish herself up in the corner of the crib.

Re: Did you use bumpers in the crib? (not the breathable ones)
A lot of people use them. I got them with my bedding set but took them out the first night she slept in her crib. They made me nervous. Oh well. lol

Re: Did you use bumpers in the crib? (not the breathable ones)
I just put them in at 10 mths, since DD was bumping her head wayyy too much at this point. The weather is also cooler so I felt better (more air in her room) and she can easily turn her head away from it...prior to this no bumpers or blankets in her crib.

Re: Did you use bumpers in the crib? (not the breathable ones)
Once I found out it was a SIDS hazard I took them out. In the beginning he did not sleep in his crib more in the cradle.

Re: Did you use bumpers in the crib? (not the breathable ones)
With DD used them from day 1; took them out around 10 months when she started standing up.
Have bumpers in DS's crib now (he's 6 months).
