I am a twin and my mom always tells us that we were the only twins born that night and they put a big sign up for us saying BABY A and BABY B.

Re: Did your parents tell you any "story" about when you were born?
Just that she was in so much pain she was begging their doorman to knock her out. She did suspect she was having twins even though the doctor insisted she wasn't. She demanded a sonogram & found out she was right.
When she was delivering my older sister, my dad drove her to the hospital. Saw the sign that said "Deliveries" & they wound up on the loading dock.

Re: Did your parents tell you any "story" about when you were born?
Mom and Dad lived in Roslyn Heights. Dad worked in Brooklyn. Mom was to delvier at Beth Israel in Manhattan. Mom goes into labor and calls Dad. Dad closes, leaves Brooklyn for Roslyn Heights, picks up Mom and heads into Manhattan. I guess my mom had a cervix with a Kung Fu grip because it was holding me in there til she got to NYC. I was born, tubes were cut and tied and 7 days later (yes they kept her in for 7 days) I leave with Mom and Dad to go home only to find that the car died on one of the hottest days of 1970. The end.

Re: Did your parents tell you any "story" about when you were born?
yup! my birthday is new years day. my mom said that she and my dad went for new years eve at their friends house, had dinner, etc. left a little after midnight, after the ball dropped. a few hours later ( around 6 AM) my mom woke up with contractions.. went to the hospital and i was born just after 11 AM. when she called the friend they had been with the night before, she yelled at my mom for having such a quick labor and said " you were just here a few hours ago!!!" LOL

Yep. I was 2 weeks late. I was pretty much in distress. Mom had contractions and my heartbeat would slow down. Sooo...it was C Section time.
Funny, I was late, DH was Late, and my DS was 2 weeks EARLY...Go figure.

Re: Did your parents tell you any "story" about when you were born?
The only thing my parents told me about the day I was born was that the two nurses ran out to the waiting room to tell our family that it was a girl and they both got stuck in the doorway trying to enter at the same time When my brother was born, the pope was passing on Queens Blvd (he was born in St. John's Hospital) and the nurse was trying to convince my mother to name him John Paul Not such exciting stories

Re: Did your parents tell you any "story" about when you were born?
Only that my father was eating a pastrami sandwich in the waiting room while I was being delivered.
He said he had sooooo much agita (heartburn) from the sandwich and told my mother. She smacked him and said, "Too bad for you...I just pushed out a person."
Ahhh...the love.
PS- I continue to give my parents agita- 34 years later!

I was born on mothers day...I was my moms first, so it was special for her.
She was only 18..my dad was 19...and my mom is wearing BRACES in the pictures of her holding me in the hospital...I die over that!!!!
The doctor who delivered me was Dr. Seymour Weiner. She loves to tell that story!!!

Yes, my mom always tells me how I had to be vaccumed out b/c I was stuck... they made my dad leave the room! She also likes to remind me how she was in labor for 24 hours with me and with my sister only 2 hours.

Yes, my mom almost died when she gave birth to me because her idiot of her doctor left part of the placenta inside and it caused her an infection, i had to go right away to an incubator because i couldn't breath so it was definitely not a positive thing
Yes, for me too.
My mom told me she almost died when she gave birth to me. She lost a lot of blood and they gave her a transfusion. To this day, she has medical issues, and I think it's because of the blood. I had guilt from when I was very young.

Re: Did your parents tell you any "story" about when you were born?
My Birth (the ok part) My mother was still running as many miles as she could, even at 8 and a half months along. Apparently I was lazy even back then in the womb and I had just about enough of this running stuff! So I came a-knocking and she went into labor 1 ½ miles from a phone (Ah, vengeance is sweet). After making it to a pay phone (we’re talking the 70’s here) she calls for an ambulance thinking she’s going to die from the pain of it all. When they arrive a little while later everyone thinks I’m going to be born right there and then, but nope I had other plans. It was hot (August) and it was Texas, so I waited. She stayed in labor and no drugs were really helping her as they got her to the hospital. Still I waited. My father was called at Sea (Navy) and told to get home, and I waited. All this time, I gave her hell! So much that no epidural could be given and nothing could be done to ease her pain. They say I was so close each time, but I kind of resisted. The doctor was called from home to come but a back up was present, still I waited. When finally the right doctor arrived and everyone was set but my Dad was still missing I guess I got tired of waiting. I was born and heck I was girl (Whoops!) so I had no name. 3 hours later my dad shows up and sees me for the first time. He said he was so in love that he was reminded of the first time he met my mother, but more. I was named after the woman who introduced my mother to my father back in High School.
I get this every now and then. Dad wasn’t there and Mom is long out of my life. No one else was there.
Mom promptly ignored me and left the hospital as soon as she could. I stayed for an extra 3 weeks because I was ‘different’. No one had seen a child born with one blue and one brown eye. My dad stayed with me the whole time. Finally someone realized it was genetic and I was fine. So my father bundled me up and put me in a cardboard box (I’m not lying) and strapped me down into an Air Force Transit and flew me to Cuba when I was 4 weeks old. He had to get special permission from the doctors and the Navy/Air Force but my family was all stationed in Cuba at the time.
The other two stories I hear about my birth are sad, twisted and frankly annoying so I now avoid my two Aunts at my birthday just NOT to hear them!!! Both basically put a lot of pressure on me for being born as their personal beam of hope and redemption.

yup
i was born almost 2 weeks early and my Mom blamed it on Passover. she gets sick after eating matzho for a few days in a row, and that she claims is what brought on early labor

Re: Did your parents tell you any "story" about when you were born?
Oh yea..
I literally almost killed my mom. And then when I was born, I almost died...so it was a very hard experience for her. I hear the story all the time..till this day. Every year on my birthday, my mom calls me at the exact time I was born. I will be 32 in March and she STILL does this, and it means the world to me.

I was a scheduled C-section, but thanks to my mom's ob/gyn who did the surgery, it was a botched surgery and he cut through all of her stomach muscles. He later had his license revoked after butchering many stomachs and was nicknamed "the happy butcher."

My Mom used to tell me that they found me in a garbage pail...I obviously knew that they were teasing...and I wasn't mentally scarred...or was I?

Re: Did your parents tell you any "story" about when you were born?
my mom tells me how when i was born--my dad was old fashioned and wasn't in the delivery room. BUT the moment i was born--he told the nurse, "i wanna see her". the nurse said that i wasn't "cleaned up" yet...but he didn't care.
so they brought me to him, and the nurse told my mom that the moment he held me...he burst into tears and just cried and cried....because he was so happy!

Re: Did your parents tell you any "story" about when you were born?
my mom didnt speak english well when she had me
i was her 3rd but i guess bc she had an accent they didnt want to believe her when she said that the baby was coming NOW!
they put her in a room and told her she may be sent home. all of a sudden my mom let out a YELL that actually sent other mothers out into the hallway to see what was happening! the nurses came in to tell her to calm down that it would still be a while, even days.
She screamed for them to make sure before leaving again AND . . . I was already crowning!! I was delivered right in that room and the doctor joked that he barely caught me I flew out so fast.
my mom always has great stories, with her first she had no idea she was in labor - my father had to tell her! and with my brother my dad couldnt get home bc of an ice storm in APRIL so my neighbor had to go knock on doors to get someone to drive her . . .so a neighbor that she had never met drove her to the hospital!

Re: Did your parents tell you any "story" about when you were born?
my mom always tells me that when i was born my dad was at work and no one could get a hold of him to tell him my mom had gone into labor. so my aunt (Godmother) and uncle drove her through traffic and im sure they made it far more dramatic than it actually was!
anyhoo, my father missed my entire birth and by the time he got there i was out already. so im the only one out of the 4 of us that my dad wasnt there when we were being born. im not traumatized by it or anything, they just like to make me feel left out.

How it was January 30, 1976 and there was a huge snowstorm going on. Also, my great grandpa was buried that day so my mom was without much family, since everyone was at the funeral.
Everyone was happy when i was born. Also, they tell me about how a bad flu season was going on...my dad shows me pics of how he made all my visitors wear masks.
hey we are 4 days apart, I was born 2/4/76 and my mom tells me sbout the storm that hit right before I was due
really??? that is so funny! at least now i know my dad was telling the truth

My parents love to tell me this story. Right after I was born( STILL IN THE NURSERY) I somehow managed to break free of my blankie and proceeded to lift myself up ( PUSHUP STYLE )and scan the room.As the other babies family members looked on in amazement. I however no longer posess this super human strenght
