Diet Coke Question??
I normally don't drink that much soda in general, but since I started doing WW I have been drinking diet coke a little bit. It seems each time I drink more then one glass of it I get a serious upset stomach and really bad gas pains. Has this happened to anyone else? Regular soda does not bother me like that so this is so strange. It might just be a coincidence, but it has happened a few times now

Re: Diet Coke Question??
I think this is possible, especially if you are not used to artificial sweeteners . . .

Re: Diet Coke Question??
Yeah I guess that could be it, I never really drank diet anything and I never use artificial sweetener in general.

Re: Diet Coke Question??
I can't drink it anymore- it kills my stomach- all fake sugars to and I read that they more you have fake sugar- the more you body craves real sugar!

That's really interesting! Yeah I am planning on staying away and if I need to have a soda (it's one of the few things I crave once in awhile) I'll just have the real stuff.
Do you know anything about Splenda though? Is that any better then the other artifical sweeteners?

Re: Diet Coke Question??
I can't drink it either....for me it is definitely due to the artificial sweetners. Diet pepsi seems better for some reason (although still gives me gas!)....splenda, aspartame, maltitol...all of them, give me upset stomach. The one I can tolerate most is Sweet & low (saccharin).

Re: Diet Coke Question??
I used to drink about 4-6 cans of diet soda a day. I stopped drinking it all together last August. I now don't eat or drink any artifical sweetners. I noticed a few things.
I lose weight a lot easier. There are studies that state artifical sweetners mess up your metabolism. In my case this was true.
I am less bloated and I have less stomach uspet.

Re: Diet Coke Question??
Yes, this happens to me every time I drink any diet soda. I don't anymore because it's not worth it but I figured out I am allergic to aspartame. Even some sugarless gum bothers me.

Re: Diet Coke Question??
Some people do have bad reactions to the sweetner. That has not happened to me, but I can see how it could.
I've stopped drinking it. Even the diet coke is really bad for your teeth (some ingredient in coke is very acidic), and I'm TTC and just don't trust it. Initially I was having a little bit when I knew I wasn't PG, but it tastes disgusting to me now.
Instead, I drink loads of water, seltzer from time to time, and seltzer with a splash of juice.
