Difference between Clomid cd3-7 and cd5-9?
I just got Af at 13 dpo of my first clomid/IUI cycle. I was 100mg clomid from cd3-7 and produced 3 follicles over 20 and a few small ones around 15-16. Due to the timing of AF and labor day holiday, I won't have an appointment until Tuesday which is cd5, so I will be taking clomid cd5-9 instead this cycle. I feel like cd3-7 worked very well for me. What differences should I expect, if any?

I'd like to know too I just started Clomid yesterday on CD5 for every other day. My ovaries responded really well to the Clomid but my uterine lining was being adversly effected.

Re: Difference between Clomid cd3-7 and cd5-9?
i have heard that starting on cd 5 produces less eggs but better quality and starting on cd 3 produces more eggs but a bit lesser quality (geez i may even have that mixed up) I am currently pregnant with 1 baby and started 150mg on cd3...
the other times i was on clomid i got preg on both 5 and 3 day start. Mc on both 5 and 3 day start too so i dont think it has anything to do with that...
The reg ob started me on cd 5 while the RE wanted me to start it on cd 3.. i never asked just went with it... Sorry if its not the answer ur looking for !
Good luck.. either way i know people who have gotten pregnant on both start days and have gone on to have healthy pregnancies

i think its up to your dr. and their preference. GL!! i have done both on CD% starts i wasnt monitored so i dont know if there was a differnece with my lining or eggs. i have good results on cd3 at 50mg.

Re: Difference between Clomid cd3-7 and cd5-9?
Thank you. I am calling to speak to the dr or nurse tomorrow. The receptionist was the one who changed my protocol, not the dr or nurse, purely for scheduling issues around the holiday.
Has anyone started clomid without a baseline sono?

Typically, I don't think they allow for there not to be a baseline sono. They need to make sure its all systems go.
I would like to know the difference as well. Please let us know when you find out!

Re: Difference between Clomid cd3-7 and cd5-9?
I had to have blood work before Clomid cycles 1 and 2. No baseline sonos at all. After that, no bloodwork between Clomid cycles 2 and 3.
Don't know much about the difference between starting on CD3 vs CD 5. I start on 3.

I did all 4 of my Clomid cycles without CD 3 sonos, just CD 3 bloodwork. I think there is less chance of cysts with Clomid vs. injectibles.

I didn't know the difference between taking clomid cd3-7 or cd5-9. That's interesting that one would produce more quality eggs than the other.
I'm on my 4th cycle of clomid and have never had a baseline sono.

My understanding from my RE is that the start date is basically a style thing between OB's (who like to start on CD5) and RE's (who prefer to start on day 3).
The reasoning is that on CD3 there is very little/no chance that the one dominant follicle has been selected yet (which is what should happen in a normal cycle). There is a slightly greater chance of that happening by day 5 but still not that high. I think it happens around day 7 or so.
Once the dominant follicle is selected, stimming will be essentially pointless b/c your body has already recruited the one follicle to mature and ovulate and chemically, there can't be any more. The purpose of fertility drugs is to bypass that and trick your body into producing many follicles.
