Direct Buy
Has anyone used them for ordering flooring, carpeting? What has been your experience? I don't know whether is worth it to use them, or my contractor's person.
We are buying kitchen and bathroom stuff through them

Re: Direct Buy
My friend went to the meeting and said it would be good if you were buying everythign for your house through them--furniture, flooring, appliances etc but not just to buy a thing here or there. I dont' think it is for everyone because they have a pretty hefty fee but it really depends what you want to use them for.

Re: Direct Buy
a cousin of mine is a contractor and he actually used direct buy for his house. He said it is totally worth it if you are buying a lot and if you are buying high end stuff. If you are not going with expensive wood or marble per se then you might not save enough to make it worth while.
Friends of ours also belong and they had a hard time finding a contractor that would work with direct buy. They like to supply the materials so they can get their cut.

This is very true, we are in the midst of starting a HUGE renovation, just waiting on final approval of variances and permits from the town. But Yes contractors like to supply the materials because there is a markup on it.
We went to directbuy and honestly it felt like a timeshare scam. I swear to god i had like flashbacks of being 13 and going with my parents to these timeshare seminars in florida.
Another thing is they dont have the same brands, like they dont carry anderson windows they carry bonneville. Never heard of that brand so not sure how comparable it is to Anderson

Re: Direct Buy
I heard that the membership fee is in the thousands so unless you are redoing or building and entire house and plan on getting everything... from cabinets to tile, to upholstery to furniture it's really not worth it.

Re: Direct Buy
The membership is $3700 I believe and my mom paid this and used them when my parents remodelded their home. It is only worth it if you are doing a whole house and need alot of stuff. My mother did save a lot of money but it also seemed to be a hassel. You have to have the item number and you order it through a catalog and the customer service their stinks. My mother waited 3 or 4 months for her front door when it was suppose to take 6 weeks and instead of being honest with her they kept lieing.

My SIL works for Direct Buy in CT. It is very expensive to join but they do have good deals.
She has gotten us a few things from them!
