Direct TV Vent/ Question
Our direct tv has gone out. We think the wind might have loosened the dish. Anyway, we call Direct TV and they say the soonest they can get someone here in Feb. 8th. DH and are shocked by saying its going to take them more than a week to come here. We had people coming for the SuperBowl and everything. Has anyone else called Direct TV for service and needed to wait that long? That is ridiculius. I told DH if it was up to me I'd cancel them and go with someone else.

Re: Direct TV Vent/ Question
wow. when we had directv we never had to wait that long. if you call and report the same problem 3x they have to come. i'd call back and say you have no idea what the problem is, hopefully they say a sooner date. if not, demand to speak to a manager and see what happens. tell them you want your acct credited for all the days that you can't watch. and i'd probably throw in that verizon or cablevision came to the door and are willing to offer you a better rate plus pay any fees to get out of your directv contract and they can come tomorrow. bet that gets them moving.

Call again or call a local Direct TV installer...

Re: Direct TV Vent/ Question
Are you sure it's out for good and it's not just temporarily out? There is no way I would stand for waiting that long for them to come fix my tv. I would call them up now and tell them that if they don't have someone there by Friday that you are canceling your service.

Re: Direct TV Vent/ Question
I would certainly call again, ask for a superviser, & threaten to switch. The certainly will credit you for the days with no service.

Re: Direct TV Vent/ Question
I would call and speak to a manager also
When they finally get u through to a manager, your problems get resolved RIGHT AWAY!
I HATED calling and getting a person in another country, who I could not ever understand.

Re: Direct TV Vent/ Question
When you go into your menu, are you getting any signal strength at all? If so, can your husband go up on the roof and trying moving the dish or tightening it while you watch the signal strength on the TV inside? We've become experts at resetting our own due to the long waits for service. Good Luck!

Re: Direct TV Vent/ Question
I've never had to wait that long for DishNetwork. Plus, I've done most of my equipment setup myself. I installed one of my two dishes (the one that is more securely installed, and never moves in the wind is the one that I installed.... the one that loses signal first is the one that was "professionally" installed... ).
What I did to align is, is to take either a walkie-talkie, or a cordless phone with intercom feature up to the roof with me, and have DW watch the signal meter on the TV. When it was good, she would let me know, and I'd lock down the position. Doesn't take that long.

Re: Direct TV Vent/ Question
I would definately call again & demand you need someone there before Feb 8th.
I agree with the above, DH installed our dish himself & we have NEVER had it go out bc of the wind or weather. It is actually easy to realign it.

Re: Direct TV Vent/ Question
I had the same problem last night. The local channels were not coming in (AND I MISSED IDOL ) but the cable ones were. They told me that the local channels use a weaker signal than the cable ones, and put me through to make an appointment to re-position my dish.....February 12th! I was like, thanks but no thanks. I am moving before then anyway....and it looks like I am not taking them with me. I even told them that and they said they are independent contractors for DirecTv and are only hired by them.
