I don't see it as any different than returning at the store. It was a gift and what they choose to do with it at this point is their right. Maybe advertising on FB is a bit over the top but if there are other people in the circle that would like the toys, it's a win since they now don't have to go to the store. i agree. While announcing on fb was no doubt ballsy. I seriously don't think it's that big of a deal. The problem isn't that she's selling them persay. I think the problem is she announced it on fb. What she does with her stuff is her business. It would have been better if she quietly sold them.

Re: Disgusted/Shocked/WTF!?!?
I think posting on FB for those at the party to see is beyond ballsy and rude.
However, regifting, selling, whatever she wants to do discreetly is totally fine.
I just regifted 3 gifts I received for a holiday, this past weekend.
I also just gave 5 giftcards to DS teachers knowing full well that they may regift and that's fine.

I personally don't see anything wrong with selling duplicate gifts without receipt. They were given to her daughter and they are to do with them as they please! This has happened to me a few times and I sold the duplicates and put the profit into my daughter's account or bought her something she really wanted.
However, the fast that she is selling them on FB where people who gave her those things can see that their gifts were duplicates IS pretty tacky. The one thing I was taught at an early age is that you always make sure to show the person who gave you a gift that it is very much appreciated! Seeing your gifts sold on FB certainly doesn't make you feel appreciated...
This exactly!

This wasn't posted in a buy/sell group on FB. This was posted on her public wall for everyone to see.

I'm on the fence (people sell new/used on CL, yard sales, regift etc) but I think te tacky part is selling on FB maybe.
I kind of agree with this...why not just return them for store credit and get DD something else? I think its weird that she is doing it on FB where her friends who most likely gave the gifts can see...but it actually seems like it is more of an effort then even returning...
doesn't make sense to me!

It's ballsy to sell them on Facebook when probably a lot of the attendees are probably on her friends list. It shouldn't be any of my business what she does I guess, but I would definitely be thinking what the f*ck.
exactly!!!!!! return them and have her daughter pick out new toys.

Re: Disgusted/Shocked/WTF!?!?
Sorry I dont see the big deal. Maybe she's selling them and putting teh money in her dd's college fund or going to use it for clothes for her. You don't know for sure that she is pocketing the money (which THAT I would agree is tacky), so I don't see any issue.

ITA. I've returned or exchanged gifts that were duplicate or I know they just wouldn't use, or clothes I didn't like. I probably wouldn't sell on FB though for fear of insulting the gift giver.

Re: Disgusted/Shocked/WTF!?!?
Tacky!!!
I have no problem with her selling the items or returning them, but to do it without any regard for the gift giver is just gross.
I do also find it weird that she is looking to profit from her friends. Many Frozen items are selling at ridiculous prices on those buy/sell groups. I have no problem with that. But to post them on your own wall, wanting to profit off your own friends is just off putting.

Re: Disgusted/Shocked/WTF!?!?
Yea I would never put it on my wall....Thats just rude...Just recently my DD got a duplicate doll. We tried to exchange it at toys r us three different times..but because they had a sale on this item buy 1 get one free..the item comes up as $0.00. So now i will have to sell it or regift it. But I would NEVER put it on my FB wall because I feel horrible. The money would go back to my daughter to pick out a new toy or into her savings account.

Yeah I'm here with this. If I get duplicates (and if I can) I'd return them for the 'monetary benefit' of not having a wasteful gift in my house. I'd of course get AJ something with that money but the point is why would I need piles of excess in the house if I could return them.
Personally, I'd be too lazy to sell anything on facebook!

Re: Disgusted/Shocked/WTF!?!?
I think its tacky that she is doing it on facebook .. if she really wanted to she should have just listed them on craigslist or something.... not somewhere where the parents who gave those presents could possibly see.
I dont see how its any different than returning it to the store though, but I wouldnt do it. I would probably donate them.

agreed. Though I don't know that I would sell them in an open forum where the gifter might see you selling ... what should you do if say, there was no receipt?
I guess regift but that is more or less the same.
I tend to take duplicates and leave them at grandparents or give them to family.

Exactly. DD just got several duplicate or redundant gifts (e.g., 3 tea sets) for her 2nd birthday. Most did not have gift receipts. I brought everything back to TRU, and they were able to take back everything but one gift. I used the store credit to buy other things for DD. I would never post the gifts on my FB wall for sale, because I wouldn't want to insult the gift giver. I am still trying to find a brick and mortar store that sells the last remaining duplicate. If I can't return it, I will regift or donate.

Honestly IMO it's tacky to sell them however whats worse is she is doing it on FB for everyone to see! That's just beyond tacky IMO.

Re: Disgusted/Shocked/WTF!?!?
I don't see how it's that different than returning, and I think it's completely fine to return duplicates. I mean, her daughter should be able to pick out gifts with the money. It's not her fault that she got duplicates. Or if she has enough, put it in the kid's savings. Would I sell the stuff on my facebook page? No. But to each her own.

Yep! This is really what irked me and why I posted about it. We've all returned gifts, re-gifted things, etc. but its the public Facebook for all to see (including guests who purchased the gifts) that bothered me. I agree

Re: Disgusted/Shocked/WTF!?!?
If the sale is for more than the retail price, and I bought one of the gifts, I wuld be tempted to write "Wow; that's a lot more than I spent on it when I bought it for her. Let me know how you make out."
I probably wouldn't, but I'd want to.
It's the complaining about the gifts in front of the purchasers and the gauging (selling for more) that make this wrong--not the trying to get something of value for the doubles.
If that's the way it went down. Did she ask for higher prices than they were worth?
