I don't even think it would be about getting sick of Disney; I just want my kids to have other experiences....see other places than a yearly vacation to theme parks.

I agree with this! I also want to discover other places.

We went every year when I was a kid (probably from age 4-10) and I remember complaining "Disney, AGAIN?!"

NOW I realize what a spoiled BRAT I was and how LUCKY I was that I got to go so often! Chat Icon

ETA: I still think going too often takes away some of the magic.

For those of you who go several times a year- do you do any other travel?

I would prefer my kids to experience more of the world- heck, even more of the US- than go to Disney over and over and over again.

We are planning to go for the first time when my oldest is almost 5 and my youngest is 1 (in fall 2014). We probably won't go back again until the youngest is at least 3 and they can ALL participate in most things.

I don't think she'll get sick of it but we can't go more than every two years and right now it's 'easy'.

Next year I wanted to do Yellowstone but changed my mind to a road trip down California's beaches and Redwood forests instead. Then the year after we'll do yellowstone, then NY then back to disney so she'll be nearly 8 (she went at 3 and this year she'll be 5). Then probably not again until middle school?

Disney changes so its new each time we go, but still enough of the same to be 'pros' at it.

But as PP said there's so much here in the US to see and visit and do. I'm thinking of getting a fake passport made for the 50 states and update it with where's she's been in photos and let her take it over as she gets older to push us to visit all 50. Alaska should be interesting! LOL

ETA: she can currently check off
Iowa
Nebraska
Minnesota
Oklahoma
Texas
New York
Florida
Hawaii
New Jersey
Kansas
South Dakota

Doesnt include the states we drove through from NY to TX

Re: Disney Moms, do your kids ever get sick of Disney?

We have family members with kids in their teens and 20s who go nearly every year, and the kids complain like crazy when they dont go!

I went 1x as a kids and then when DS1 was 2 we went, then again at 3yo he went. Then we went this past april (ds is 5y3m). I have always loved taking DS because it seemed like it just really catered to kids and it was a place where we as adults enjoyed ourselves but there was so much for the kids to enjoy too! And if your kid had a melt down, no one is looking at you like "really?!?! you have THAT kid" becuase nearly everyone there has THAT kid!Chat Icon

however, this year we went with DS2 who is 2yo and is crazy! He literally never stops, he is a bundle of energy, doens't listen, has a bad temper and is as stubborn as they come! Well WDW with him and my 5yo was not that much fun! or at least it didnt live up to my expectation! We will not be going again for at least 3-4 years!

However we went on the disney CRUISE and had a FANTASTIC time! It was really the best of everything for our family! and we are trying to plan a return (we did a 4night this time, but want to do a 7night next year).

So really I guess it depends, my 5yo would go every year if we let him, I felt it was more magical with a few years in between personally! but as I said we have family members and I woudl say they have gone the 5 of the last 6 years and they LOVE it!
