Disney with a 14 month old

Should I bring the carseat on the plane? Or should I just let her sit and hope she stays put? We bought her a seat, but she is always on the go. Don't know if the carseat would backfire or not for us. Any feedback for those who traveled with a 14 month old?

Re: Disney with a 14 month old

We took our DD to Disney on the plane at 15 months. She too was always on the go and we were also a little worried. We opted to not get her a seat and let her sit on our laps. She was fine. She did do a lot of going back and forth between DH and I, and when she got restless, we took her for walks up and down the aisle. (only happened once or twice) On the way back she slept on DH the whole way.

I say go without the car seat.

Thank you! My gut is telling me not to bring the seat also. We have a seat for her anyway, so she can sit between us. I am worried that she is going to want to run up the aisles the whole time.

We went with our friends who have a 15 month old and it worked out better without the carseat. Plus it is just more that you have to carry or drag and it is wayyyyyy too much for me to handle.

I went with an 18 month old and I did not use a carseat on the plane but I did bring it because of the rental car. The flight atttendant saw us carrying it on board and advised against it--I'm glad she did. We sat her on the seat in between us and played movies for her, Playdoh on the food tray, new toys to keep her interested, snacks...You'll be ok Chat Icon

We flew to Florida when DS was 15 months old, we did not buy him a seat, but he got one each way between us.

We just put our car seat in a laundry bag with DEVINE written across it and checked it, best thing we could have done!

Re: Disney with a 14 month old

We just went to Disney last month with Alex. He was 14 months (well turned 15 mo on the trip). We did not buy a seat but we had three - so he had room to play by our seats and his brother's. I was nervous since he is a maniac. He did surprisingly well. He slept part of the trip each way. Played at our feet some of the time. We did jet blue so we had tv's which he liked. And he ate a lot of goldfish, pretzels, etc. We only had to walk him down the aisle - 1 time - on the way there.

Disney on the other hand - was tough. He hates the stroller and wanted to be free. It was rough but we still had a great time. Our backs were both killing us from holding him all day long....

Wow, from a safety standpoint I can't imagine a flight attendant advising against it!

If the plane is going down.... well you know the odds. I really don't think it makes a difference if their buckled in the seat or carseat.

I'm not bringing a carseat for DD. Too much of a hassle, her seat is HUGE and will have no use for it after since I'm not renting a car anyway.

We went in Sept when DD was 15 months - all I can say is I couldn't imagine not bringing the seat. We saw several kids under 2 who were crying and fighting to get out and unbuckling their seats and running up and down - DD had her seat and she was very happy strapped in - she is a very active one who never sits still so the seat helped to keep her sitting - since she was used to the seat she was very comfortable and able to sleep. Personally if you are willing to carry the seat I would take it - I think it made a big difference in DD's comfort
